Ha! It's only really the equivalent of someone you know in The Bill! And everyone knows someone who's been in The Bill, even if they don't realise it!

I bet actors did as well...almost every actor who could walk and breathe has been on the Bill. They filmed it in an area where a friend used to live...she'd sit there going 'end of my street', 'shop on the corner' etc. I notice a baddy in 'Line of Duty' was the main guy in 'The Bill'....always confusing.

It is my belief that Led Zeppelin IV, or Untitled, or

for the purists, is the greatest rock album ever made, followed by bits of Surf's Up. As they both came out in 1971 this would support David Hepworth's thesis, and I wouldn't disagree.

March 11, 1971. Southampton Uni - one of the best gigs I ever saw. Zep at their finest :emoticon-0178-rock:

and LZ2 are a tie for their best, with LZ1 and Physical Graffiti very close.

Yes - 71 was an amazing year for music (Rory Gallagher released his first - and best imo - solo album), although 70 with Free, Sabbath, Purple, Family, etc all at their best and the Let It Be, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Who's Next, Atom Heart Mother ...... out in that year. Memories!! :emoticon-0103-cool:

Ah Ziggy Stardust was recorded in 71, released in 72. Hunky Dory was released in 71 though, so add that to the list!

Amazing how many artists had two or even three out in a year.

Some great albums 1971 particular favourites being Who's Next,Surfs Up, Blue and Mud Slide Slim and played Meddle this morning whilst doing the domestic chores. Whether it makes 71 the year is very debatable. 1966 springs to mind and any year that doesn't have a Dylan album, never mind that we had heard the best of the late Hendrix....
