Boro winning 2-0 at the moment. Gaston was brought down for a penalty, which Leadbitter scored from. Gaston then followed it up minutes later with a goal of his own.

He's the creative player we want.

For his goal he received the ball 35 yards out and waltzed his way into the box, rounded the keeper and scored.

Isn't there some way of getting him back?

Is it going to be 3 South Coast teams in the Premier League in August.? Looking likely again, with Brighton AHA.

 

If Gaston keeps playing like this, Middlesbrough might have some real competition to sign him permanently at the end of his contract.

 

Reckon we could be in for him? Do we get first refusal?

I reckon if DTLW wanted to write something slightly out of the mainstream he could do a little thing about Gaston and how he has appeared to have failed at Southampton and even Hull, on loan, yet was a total hit for Boro from his first minute at The Riverside.

 

He's always felt like a confidence player, and for whatever reason RK has never believed in him. Now he has someone that does and...well...look.

Kinda different of course, but you can't help make that comparison with MLT. He was much the same in that sense.

 

I've only seen a couple of his matches with Middlesbrough thus far, but it also looks like there's less wasted effort in his game, which no doubt relates to his confidence. I liked (and still like) Gaston more than all but a handful around here, but I've never seen a player who made more full-tilt sprints that served absolutely no purpose, particularly when we were playing a pressing game. Combined with his sometimes-dodgy fitness and you ended up with a player who could have a major impact...if he hadn't exhausted himself attempting to chase down a player with the ball from 40 yards away (while also serving to vacate the space for which he was responsible in the process).

 

I first became a little tired of Gaston when that thread went on all summer.
Then he managed to make two and a half years seem more self indulged than a me themed Winston Bogarde party.
He left, we wished him well.
Now we wish him back? Oh brother. Let him go people, this is not healthy.

Amazingly, Gastòn is only 25, though he seems to have been around for ever. Maybe he is only just now maturing into a great footballer?

 

I think we are interested because we were all a bit puzzled by his lack of success and strangely he endeared himself to us. That's rare for a player not achieving his potential. I think we know that he is not coming back as he is on a free at the end of the season...the next move will be very important for his career. I bet most of us will be looking out for him for many years to come.

 

I hope that Boro manage to work out a deal for him (even if that means him scoring against us next season). He's found a home there.

OMG, for health reasons I'm staying off this page.

 

Or will he want to go back to a European side....this is his chance to get his next team right.
