Charlton are in much the same position as us - win or bust.

Could this be the night one of our seasons takes light, or a draw and consigns both to a dull last 6?

We'll win this 2-1 for me. COYB.

2-0 win with a breathtaking attacking performance leaving us all wondering why we can't play like that all the time.

Here's hoping. Biggest week yet- I think if we were to win 5 draw 1 lose 1 it would be enough. To be honest, I cannot see how on earth that will happen but being a footy fan you've surely got to believe.

Anybody else get the sense that this season has stagnated and the team is just going through the paces. stumbling towards the end of the campaign, resigned that we'll miss out on the play-offs? The match against Wolves sounded pretty dire, despite our clean sheet and the acknowledgement that we were perhaps the better side. The confidence just seems shot. Still, if we want a top six finish, then we should be playing a lot better than what we have been recently. The next two home games are must-win matches, for me.

Not sure about these McCarthy to Aston Villa rumours? As good a manager as McCarthy is (his record in the Championship is generally impressive), he's a bit of an old dinosaur and a cautious tactician, so he doesn't seem a good fit at a club like Villa that needs freshening up and blooding a few youngsters.

As for tomorrow night, I don't think we can underestimate Charlton, despite their league position they are in half-decent form. Yet we're playing them at Portman Road on a Tuesday evening, a setting that has bloodied the noses of better sides in this division. I think we will win this one, but it it'll be close and it won't be pretty.

    1-0 Ipswich.

After the absolute mongs we've had before Mick in Jewell and Keane I'm a hell of a lot more forgiving with him. Yes he plays crap footy but this will be the third season running top 10 - we have our club back. We have players playing for us who want to be here, no 100 loanees and I think we've been a bit unlucky with injuries this season. I have no doubt McGoldrick/ Fraser and Bishop would have been playing every week but it's not been allowed to happen. People need to be careful what they wish for at times.

I agree, we look a damn sight more competitive under McCarthy and we're consistently challenging at the right end of the table. However, while I have no real problems with him staying another season (bar a collapse in form over the next month or so), I also wouldn't be too disappointed if he decided to move elsewhere in the summer. My main reason is that, despite the general sense of over-achievement and his good record, I'm not impressed with our style of play and the idea of a more progressive coach coming in and overhauling the style of play is an appealing one.

I agree that McCarthy is one of our better managers recently, in terms of results and what he has done for the club, rather than on-pitch performances and style of play. I just get a general sense that change would be a good thing, and despite the grass not always being greener on the other side, I feel McCarthy may have taken us as far as he can.

This squad needs freshening up and it would be nice to see attractive, entertaining football at Portman Road once again. Easier said than done, of course, and it'd certainly be more achievable with a competitive budget and not relying on other clubs' rejects, but I don't have confidence that McCarthy can, or will, overhaul the playing style in the long run. Whenever we look like playing attractive football under him, it takes it one defeat or bad performance and he scraps everything and reverts to an overly-conservative style of football.

I'm most likely going to go to the Charlton match tomorrow night. No disrespect intended to the club, but they're more than likely getting relegated this season and they're a shambles off the field. This is a winnable home game where I hope we can impose ourselves, play good football, and get the three points. Let's face it, we need all three.

McCarthy is the worst manager we have ever had when it comes to style of play and negative tactics!
As for tomorrow, personally don't care, I, for the first time ever, have lost total interest and won't even be listening to it, would rather watch the Champions League and be entertained!

" McCarthy is the worst manager we have ever had when it comes to style of play and negative tactics! "

Donno Keane would give him a run for guff footy - bloody rubbish under Keane on many occasion. Though I agree the style of play under Mick isn't what I would like to see played. Not a fan of how we play the game, never said I have been.

Mick may be that way but he's better than the last three for results............. and that's indisputable.

Well Mick has stopped the slide of Keane when they went down down down. Actually gone back up 1500 according to Clegg under Mick.

I'm expecting this to be a return to the scrappy 2-1 victories we were getting in Jan/Feb.

The odd danger of some real football breaking out, but a solid & resilient performance

Last chance saloon for Charlton also. Like Rotherham they've hit a bit of form.

Take the lead it'll be easy. First goal key!

Did you see the football we played under Keane? Keane had the winning combination of horrendous football and losing!!

I certainly did - but for some reason Spanish seems to think Keane is a better manager than Mick. The stuff we " played " under that absolute mong wasn't much better than now. We even have the cheek to reach the play offs under Mick. How dare he.
