Will United Really Be As Strong?

Yes, people ask this this every year and the answer is always yes. Alex Ferguson is one of the best around and getting his team playing together and winning. They will be a big threat again next year and will at worst finish 2nd in the league.

    "You'll win nothing with kids!"

De Gea I admit is a risk but in my opinion he has the best defence in the League, and possibly Europe in front of him. He won't be alone and with the experience Ferdinand, Vidic and Evra have it will make it that much easier. Jones is for the future, he will be bedded in as Smalling was last season and Smalling already looks a class act. If the season was to start tomorrow I would be happy with our squad.

We proved last season with Carrick, Gibson, Giggs, Anderson in the middle that you don't need World beaters in the middle of the park. All they are there to do is to break up play. With Fletcher back we have a destroyer who will break up anything coming towards the 18 yard box and Carrick of course is very good at reading the game and intercepting the ball. Against Arsenal when we had Gibson and O'Shea in the middle of the park, it didn't matter, because they were there to do a job. That was it. All our attacking play comes from the wings, which with Valencia, Young, Nani and Giggs we have arguably the best set of wingers in the league too. In that Arsenal game Fabio and Rafael did a tremendous job down the wings and they were probably our two best players.

I can't remember the last time (since Scholes years ago) we had a creative midfielder playing behind the attackers. Giggs can do a job there if needed and I'm sure we will see Rooney there a bit this season as well but I won't be too fussed at all if we don't sign another player because as shown last season this squad is more than capable.

Ashley Young will thrive in that United team, mark my words. He is a brilliant signing. He was bossing the assists charts for years with an average Villa side.

I agree. He seems to have slipped under the radar but I think he will have a similar impact that Valencia had. But in my opinion he brings even more to the team than Valencia. He's a great signing.

4th/5th? Are you joking Arsenal fan or are you describing where your team will finish? With Nani and Young, 2 assist machines in the league, we will create many chances and we have very good strikers to convert. I fully expect Nani and Young to assist between 25-35 assists in the league next season and we also have Giggs and Valencia who assists a lot. Rooney will also assist and Berba. With De Gea we have a very talented young keeper but by no means is he 100% certain to start the season as number 1. I have a sneaky feeling the keeper who does not want to pick his nose will start the season. He is more experienced and also speaks fluent English, so we may wait for De Gea to settle down first.

I think Nani should be centralised as he will be more of a danger, leaving rooney playing alongside him with hernandez up front when fit. We need valencia and young playing to get this team attacking properly again

However Nani would actually need to grow a set of bollocks which he lacks at this current time!

Maybe, but then people said the same thing about GN back in 96 and 97 and look how he turned out. If Rafael or Fabio develop the same way we will be sorted for the next decade <ok>

Don't think anyone answered you. Rafael scored against you in the game you beat us in 2-1 at the Emirates a few years back. He predominantly plays right back. Fabio scored against you in the cup last year and he has played mostly left back, though he played on the wing that day. Fabio actually replaced Rafael in the team towards the end of last season at right back though and has also played CM for the Reserves a fair bit, so he's fairly versatile.

Yet another who sees "midfield" as a single entity.

Nasri would not be a direct replacement for Scholes. He plays in a more advanced position, and could hardly be described as a "general".

So why post it also on the Utd Board? Post anything else here and then criticise Utd fans for answering you and the thread will be deleted.

To be fair he originally posted in on the Arsenal board. I guess the Arsenal mods decided to move it to our board. <doh>

Yeah I posted it on the Arsenal board. It's not so much that I don't care about your fan's opinions as I wanted those of other team's fans.

Are you being serious when you said 4TH OR 5TH position. If anyone is likely to finish in them positions, it will be Arsenal.

Well, a run of bad luck, loss of confidence. Suddenly United don't somehow win those games. It could very easily happen. You must realise the amount of times you came from a goal or two down, or won in the last minute etc. That takes players like Vieira, Scholes, Giggs, Henry and so forth. You see my point?

We didn't win in the last minute very often at all actually.

Yes, i can see your point but we still have those players that are capable to score in the last few minutes
