A good piece from The Ugly Iside about this, arguing that football managers aren't meant to be nursemaids: http://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/southampton/news/42455/
That Shankly feller did a reasonable job. Scots, like the Dutch, can sound a tad abrasive. My dad was a Glaswegian. Loveliest man on the planet, but always sounded pissed off. Similarly, a good neighbour is Dutch. He can make "Hi, how are you?" sound like a declaration of war. I was interested in Ronald's comment on the Tadic/Mane substitution, when he said that Mane is fast, unlike Tadic. That could be seen as a criticism by a wounded Tadic, I guess. But generally, like Fergie and Shanks and other great managers he doesn't do public criticism. If Tadic wants to see a proper example of how not to manage people see Klopp's public chastisement of Benteke. Why am I bothering with this? It's the Daily Bleeding Mail FFS!
Dusan has fallen out with his International Manager, falling out with RonKo? Seems to be a pattern forming here, perhaps he should be stepping back and looking at the way his career is going before he blows it completely?
Aberdeen had a round of applause in the 16th minute today in memory of a 16 year old fan who died of cancer. During the applause, Aberdeen scored - how nice is that ?
Aaah poor little darlings I do wonder sometimes how footballers would cope in the real world of work.
Pretty good article. Written, with the benefit of being an actual supporter, for consumption by other relatively well informed supporters. Not some obscure sport journalist who couldn't be bothered to substantiate his statements because his general readership wouldn't know the truth from the rumour anyway.
http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/sa...rift_but_hints_at_Southampton_future/?ref=rss According to the Echo, Dusan says he has no problem with Koeman. Not actually what he says in the article...he says he is happy here, everything is fine, but there may be changes at the end of the season....a matter of wait and see. He qualifies that by saying that is true for all players.
Its a tough one this. Even if we get a completely focused Tadic trying his best, there's a system that is stopping him in his tracks. I can understand if he is contemplating other options.
IF we have the same system next season. Someone said (may have been Ronald) that the players make the system, not the system the players. I can see that....you play to your strengths. RK changed things and we started to get results, but a few player change arounds and our system may change by necessity. In fact, we may buy players in order to change the system.
Remind me, is this the player that can beat a player 3 times but has to drag it back on to his left foot? Ah... Tommy Jenkins
Probably because he has never had any trouble from us. Dusan can be very good....he knows this...so he must be disheartened that things aren't going well for him at the moment. We forced Schneiderlin to stay because we needed him...we did the same for Mane and Wanyama, especially as it was the start of the season...with enough notice I can see Dusan being allowed to leave if we have time to replace him. He isn't critical to us, but I wouldn't mind him staying either.
Right so so far, according to reports () We have leaving this Summer; Vic, Mane, Pelle, Forster, Fonte, Davis and now Dusan.... The exodus of 2016 is underway!!
Not Fonte or Forster definitely. Tadic...may feel we don't need him (sorry, Dusan) Victor...an agent provocateur; may be time if money right Pelle...possibly, though may be worth keeping even if he is then on a free. Davis...unsung hero; hope he stays Mane...ah, Mane. Still 2 years on contract...well worth holding on to.
