Thanks CBK for the summary. For us that could not get there it is a blessing.
I am pleased to hear we had a good game but disappointed to learn we conceded 2. If it were their first team it would be more understandable.
I understand Bart made a howler and that it was just that a friendly.
I also understand that some of their players were at least traditionalists in that if they are up against someone that is making them look stupid, take them out. Let them know you are about. A tradition in football since time immemorial.
Also remember if most of Broms players were as you say Fringe players or rotation options, one would assume that all were out to create an impression and make their governor at least consider them as first choice.
It would appear to have been a good run out for both teams.

He reminds me a bit of Arjen Robben. Good first touch and close control and fast off the mark. Don't think De Ridder has the blistering pace like Chamberlain to knock it past a defender and run onto the ball, he's more about beating them by twisting and turning.

I thought De Ridder was class, he's easily our most skillful player. He's got loads of pace and can cross well to. Well impressed with him, a brilliant find by Adkins and the scouts.

Cheers CBK, it all sounds a far cry from what we have become used to in preseason friendlies, actually giving Prem sides (not to mention Bundesliga and La Liga sides) a good game.

As the man said, onwards and upwards.

Totally agree with you. Felt sorry for Bart when he fumbled the ball but is looking good. Agreed Seaborne had a good game last night & him & Fonte partnership worked well. Showed last night that lots of players can upp their game & compete against a higher level side & will slot into the championship well. Felt sorry for Martin, he looked lost & totally out of his depth. Others have said on here, he was pulled all over the place, poor lad.

    Great post CBK

What a pathetic statement! Nice to see I am not the only one on this board who did not like the way WBA were cynical. Did you not see Adkins throw his hands up to his face on the Connolley foul before halftime? I suppose that met with your seal of approval also.

You can watch the tackle on Player and I can assure you, it was not a bloody good tackle, it was bloody reckless, it doesn't show the earlier one, which was downright cynical, or the one on Connolly which is probably X rated. Not so friendly.

Seriously? what are you two on?

The tackle on Chamberlain was a fantastic, had it been harding on their winger it would have got a mass round of applause.

    Which part was wreckless?

    Him sliding along the ground?

Him not going in studs up?

    Him winning the ball?

There was nothing wrong with that tackle.

The one on connoly was a foul and had it not been a friendly, would have been a booking.

I have to disagree, it was not necessary to dive in like that, Oxo was going backwards, away from the goal, it just didn't need the rush of blood to the head, he caught the top of Oxo's boot wedging it into the turf, that could have caused a lot of damage, and as it was a friendly match, just a silly tackle, maybe not malicious but definitely dangerous.

    Fantastic tackle?!

One extreme to the other. I don't think it was cynical but he went in hard, left the ground and followed through and it todays game that is usually a yellow card (regardless of whether the ball is won). You can call the modern game an ass, but we all have an opinion on that. However in no way can that tackle be labelled fantastic

Seen the highlights on Saintsplayer. The tackle on Chamberlain is unnecessarily hard for a friendly match. Looks like a reasonable tackle, but its rather unsporting to be diving in like that in a meaningless warm-up game. De Ridder looks awesome though, a great find by the scouting people. Lambert must be drooling over all the service he's going to get.
