I think the real flaw in your statement is that next season you will fare even worse, Conte is a more toxic version of Jose - the unrest at the beginning of this season will seem like a minor squabble once Conte comes on board.

When the football doping scandal opens up, these charges will be least of Conte's worries!!

    Yep, simeone 2.
Conte was number 2 for me when we got Jose in 2013.
And definitely best we could get now.
Pep was always going to work with Txixi.
And we need a little gap before third round of Jose!

I know you're going to take this the wrong way but as a word of caution not too many coaches go successfully from national coach to club coach.

You are probably right. As many coaches manage national sides in their later career, so to revisit club management is tough.

    However Toni is only 46.

Other young managers have moved from national sides to club management with success. A young chap named Ferguson springs to mind

True, but lets hold our horses on Alex reference there.

No one will ever be lucky as Alex or Arsene anymore.

But he was successful at going from club coach to national coach. Now he's just going back to what he was already good at, no?

Don't know an awful lot about him, would've preferred Simeone but i like what i'm hearing about Conte. I'm a huge fan of defensively organised teams. I could watch Atletico every week, i admire how good they are. I feel like he's a similar sort of manager, particularly as he's Italian, they're well known for being good defensively. The obvious worry is can he adapt to a new league and surroundings? He probably needs to learn the language too.

I expect he'll be looking at 1 maybe even 2 Centre Backs and Centre Midfielders who are disciplined. Maybe players he's managed before? Saw a lot of reports on Vidal lately so that might be one we try and sort out.

At least we've prepared earlier this season, last season our preparations were far too late and had a huge effect on our poor season.

I think he'll sign Terry up to a new contract. He's a defensive minded coach and will want Terry's experience for at least the first season. Without European football will he be able to sign anyone better?

I hear that Italian buses are notoriously difficult to park. Parcheggiare l'autobus

Ferguson wasn't Scotland's coach was he?

Gareth, many coaches are successful from club to country which is why they're appointed but the other way around is a different story.

He was assistant manager and stepped in as manager for the 1986 World Cup qualifying campaign and the tournament after Jock Stein died.

So tell us some stories/examples or have they run out of straws at Lidl's?
You sound worried about Conte plus Chelsea.

To be fair it's not a viewpoint that is completely unfounded. Scolari was awful, LVG has really struggled, Klinsmann was ****e at Bayern, Van Basten struggled at Ajax.

I'm sure there are examples of national managers going into/back to club football and being successful.

Ranieri has done well but he was a **** national coach!

I agree. It is just obvious that DGC knows nothing about football and could not supply any relevant examples. He claims to be an old school fan but can not remember that Fergie coached Scotland's campaign in Mexico 1986.

His bust ups before the tournament with Hansen etc are legendary
