I cannot fault my Doctor's Practice. They are always polite and helpful and I can usually get an appointment quickly sometimes immediately.
It had a big impact on me, but I did read it when I was 21/22. From memory, the first couple of chapters are about his up bringing and his education and is dull. The fun starts the moment he walks passed the policeman outside the MI5 offices for his first day at work. The stories of the stuff that went on is schoolboy adventure dreams. I loved it from then onwards. I will pick it up again to see if it has a similar impact twenty odd years later. Ps. Where did you 'buy' it? It was banned here.
When I lived in Stockholm . They were punting it out to all the expats at some ridiculously expensive price. I tried to sell it on e-bay a few years ago and no-one was interested!!
In Porto and found and staying in hotel literally across the way from Boavista's ground. They play Wednesday. Tonight Porto are playing at home to one of the bottom clubs. Sadly Our big boss is over from the US, although I am tempted... *no, I am not on a jolly and no the weather isn't great!*
On Thursday, someone at my work smashed a £3000 scanner against a desk and broke it and then said to his boss "**** off you ****". I witnessed the whole thing so today I had to talk to some people from HR which lead to a disciplinary hearing and very probable sacking. Now I know I get frustrated at times but that is ridiculous.
Went to the "Gathering for Gary" in Brighton over the weekend (a celebration of the music of one of Brighton's adopted sons, Gary Moore, who would have been 64 today) - sorry LTL, was going to ping you to try and meet up, but things were crazy and I was with a crowd of like-minded blues lovers ........ When we all arrived at the venue, we were treated by a kick-ass performance of Gary Moore's music (and a few Lizzy numbers) by a bunch of young lads from Dublin. Their guitarist was mustard and I could have listened to him all night. I was chatting to a couple in-between numbers and they turned out to be his mum and dad ........ the band were 14 FFS!!! I'm now going to give up my pathetic attempts at playing guitar and will just watch as these young lads keep rock and blues going! One of the other bands were from Italy (they paid their own way to pay their respects to Gary) and were also amazing - I've learned (and I know LTL has been saying it for ages) that there's a whole lot of talented people out there waiting to be "discovered" by the industry who seem to prefer looks over talent and don't seem to care about the future of music. I had a blast - need to head back to Brighton some time and catch some more great music (The Latest Bar, the Ranelagh ......) - will meet you there next time, LTL!!
It's just possible that the Vinyl LP will do for pop/rock music now what it did back in the 1960/70s. Let's hope, anyhow.
Maybe this is why you couldn't get an appointment. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/144..._Daily_Echo_and_NHS_join_forces_for_campaign/
Rubbing my hands with glee [no, not the actual favourite programme of PL] as the last episode of 11.22.63 has been transmitted in the USA and so I've got the last two episodes to watch back-to-back. If it's as good as it's been so far I might just have to spill the beans. With a Spoiler Alert of course.
No worries Dave! Glad you had a good time! The Ranleigh is where I saw Gary play a few years back. Was a very special moment!
THe not having appointments I can understand as they're stretched, it's the wild goose chase they've sent me on telling me to call back every week only to tell me it's going to be another month Either way, I've rang up this morning and asked for an emergency appointment so see what happens
This is why the A and E departments are being overwhelmed....partly because of idiocy, but also because people can't get appointments. Not helped by people not keeping appointments of course....though some of that may be due to the length of time to the appt. You won't forget the next day, but you may forget (or have died or recovered) by one in 3 weeks time. I would say to everyone...remember that genuinely sick people need appointments, so don't go with a cold or the snuffles (unless you have an underlying illness).
