Match Day Thread Manchester United v Everton.

Discussion in 'Manchester United' started by Chief, Apr 3, 2016.

  1. He manages to make a massive profit off the back of trading players.

You really should think before you blink, Stan. I know these things must sound very clever inside your head, but (here's a little trick) try writing them down on paper before you commit them to this site. That way, you won't make a fool of yourself quite so often.
    <ok>

    No, please, no thanks.

So you admit you're a selling club, a stepping stone, and Levy's job is to make his paymaster a profit, similar to how your job is to make your paymaster his coffee?

    Well I knew that already.

  3. Oh, dear! Another "clever" remark, Stan! You like the punishment, don't you, Stan?

Every top club in the top flight, that hasn't had a sugar-daddy to bail it out and make up for financial incompetence, has had to look carefully at how it trades its players. Some players we've sold because Levy has been given little choice (Berbatov, Modric, Bale), but most of the players we've sold have been due to the normal rotation (or churn) that one would expect to find in any well-managed club.

Levy has clearly managed this side of the club extremely well. Only a cretin would try to suggest otherwise.

Other parts of the club's administration I would be critical of, such as his record in hiring and firing managers. Whilst it hasn't necessarily been the worst, it certainly hasn't been the best.

Then again, very few chairman are perfect, Stan. You, above anyone, ought to be well aware of that fact, right now.

  7. You spoiled it, Stan! I thought we could build up a dialogue built upon a series of non sequiturs!

Good result yesterday but poor performance. It was like a visit to the dentist. The only silver lining is that LVG recognised for once that we were lucky to win, which is not something he admits very often.

The match against Spurs will be a good one. Spurs have been doing well recently and the best of the London teams but one thing they've not shaken from the past is the inability to beat the bigger teams when it matters. That RS match was a test to show that they are still competing for the title. But they fluffed it and only managed a point.

Spurs will be favourites but it wouldn't surprise me if LVG and United got a lucky break and went away with all the points.

to be fair which other manager tend to come and say he was lucky to win .. very few
regarding spurs match, well if we defended well, then we have a big chance to catch them on counter, spurs have a an average record facing strong sides (except for City) it was either a draw or losing .. they will be desperate to win to catch on Leicester, so i hope they open up more .. it is 50-50 imo , will not be surprised if it ended up with a draw as much of spurs games facing good sides

Weird season and weird performances! I think you could say that for many teams.

Yes, the element of fear when visiting OT is very much reduced these days for many of the mid ranking clubs. But the style played by United does not seem to suit many top sides for some reason. City, Arsenal the chavs and Spurs have had very little joy out of LVG. Martial will exploit any complacency at the back.

The spuds may be playing better than United and it is 2nd vs 5th but I doubt Mopo is already counting his chickens.

  16. Eventually, probably, but not any time soon.

What you want to happen and what actually happens are not always the same, Custard, me old China.

I can see what you are trying to do, Custard, and it is not going to work.

  20. We're a club in transition. It's quite normal for a club in transition to overhaul its squad, which is what you've seen us do, these past three seasons. Apart from Bale and Modric, in recent seasons, every player we have sold has been for a reason, not out of necessity. In other words, Levy generally sells only when he wants to sell, not when vultures like the Glaziers come a-poachin'!
