Let's interrogate him a bit more . . . . if we do it enough he might just say 'bollocks to this, I'm off' which will make his league standing void, I think (according to the rules, probably) :emoticon-0100-smile

Mods can you sort it so that Roo can't see this <whistle>

p.s. I don't know why I'm suggesting this 'cos I'm not even in it <doh>

I am featuring Charlie Hurley and Brian Clough - both of whom I saw play 'in the flesh' - how many of you can claim that?

I can't because I wasn't alive. Does that mean you have a higher standing than me or something because I'm not sure what relevance it has.

No, of course not. It is just me proving that I am a genuine Sunderland supporter and have been for over 50 years.

I wish I was 52 again mate. Funnily enough my Grandfather was born in a place called Waltham just outside of Newcastle and although divorced from my Grandmother he kept in touch with my Mother who lived in Hull. In the early 50's he would contact my Mother to take me to York Railway Station where I would join him on his way to Wembley to watch his beloved Newcastle United in those famous FA Cup Finals. So I can also claim to have watched Newcastle's greatest ever team featuring Captain Joe Harvey, Bobby Mitchell (one of the finest left wingers I ever saw) Ronnie Simpson (one of the few goalkeepers who could stand in the centre of the goal and leap right or left and touch the angle of the bar and post) the Robledo Brothers and the legend known as "Wor Jackie" Milburn. When I first went to Sunderland I fell in love with the place, the people, the beer and the football team and would have settled there permanently but was talked into migrating in an effort to save my marriage (it didn't work - my first wife hated the place whereas I thought I'd died and gone to 'boozers heaven'!

    That proves that you're not a genuine Sunderland A.F.C. supporter :emoticon-0101-sadsm . . . . 'Wor Jackie' is Jackie Ashurst :emoticon-0100-smile

I'm afraid Jackie Ashurst came after I left for Oz and he didn't make the cut for the 1973 FA Cup Final (after which I was drunk for a fortnight) so I can't say I even heard of him Gordon. I got pissed with Jim Baxter one night/early morning in Weatheralls Club and I remember thinking he'll never front for tomorrows game. He fronted all right and played an absolute blinder - another legend.

Using that theory/logic, you've never heard of me, either <yikes> . . . . and I did the half-time 'Grand in your hand' draw on Saturday <cheers>

My heart goes out to you mate. I watched that game 'live' here in Oz surrounded by Leeds United Supporters. From memory I won about 100 dollars.

Those were the days, speculating on how many Clough would score and whether Hurley would head one in from a corner. Sigh!

If you look though Norwich have 5 more points now, than what we had at the time. My 36 points for safety has gone right of the window now it might be 40-42 points, and maybe just maybe C Palace will get dragged into it, I would say Villa are down, Newcastle 85% now and us 70% we need a winning run again, so Newcastle may have another huge game when they play Palace.

Newcastle could find themselves hoping that you beat Norwich.

You could find yourselves hoping that Newcastle beat Palace further down the line.

What an odd scenario to be involved in, hoping your nearest relegation rival wins, in order to keep two safe places, within arms reach.

Odd scenario hoping that somewhere down the line we hope our relegation rivals beat someone above us to keep the "pool" of relegation candidates alive.
Lots more twists and turns before the big fat lady sings.
I think Villa have one more win in them and that is against the mags.
Hoping Norwich and Pace draw........at the minute lol.

Villa won't pick up another point at home in my opinion, their stadium is completely toxic.
