Urrrrrrr, the is boring. Can't we move on to debating whether Martina should have played? In my opinion, the worst bit of refereeing was not AT LEAST booking Vardy for that lunge!
Sorry that was for the first one if it was given as a pen due to stopping a clear goal scoring opportunity.
For me, neither handball is actually that debatable (although clearly they both are!). In my book, the first one absolutely is not a penalty, and the second one absolutely is a penalty. I don't see either as being "tough call for the ref that, could have gone either way".
I get what you are saying. Just the way the timing of the arm changed slightly.maybe im putting too much thought into it
Which is why you confused me earlier when you said "it was 100% a penalty and red card". I thought you meant the first one.
Just heard that Ron thinks Tom is completely and utterly wrong. Both are allowed their opinions I guess.
As has already been said on here, had that been Wanyama making the challenge that there's every chance that a red card would have been shown. Similarly, if Victor had made as many fouls as Simpson and Kante did, there's no way he'd have walked off at the end of the game without his name in the ref's notebook.
They're not but referees watch MOTD, they read the paper. I reckon one of the lower rated referees would have sent off Wanyama today. Michael Oliver, thankfully, made a decision based on the foul itself.
I want to like this at least ten times. Tom, I am with you on the penalties, but your comment sums up what wrong with modern refs.
The problem is the fact that so many laws of the game rely on the referee's opinion. This is why we debate decisions after every game. It's not necessarily the fault of referees that they get decisions wrong, they are only human after all. The laws like handball should be clarified though, so that the difference between accidental and deliberate is no longer a subjective decision. Why not make any handball an offence, deliberate or not? And before someone says that decisions even themselves out, they don't. If they're wrong they're wrong and something needs to be done about it.
Well, just to make it worse, we got burgled. Lost 2 handbags, credit cards etc, a mobile phone and, oh yes, 2 cars! The game wasn't that bad by comparison!
