Stuart Ripley Interview With LFC Weekly

Discussion in 'Liverpool' started by Luis Figo no7, Jul 28, 2011.

  1. Former Blackburn winger and Premier League winner Stuart Ripley has told LFC Weekly why he believes Stewart Downing will be a success at Liverpool:

“Kenny knows how to build a strong squad. He understands the components it takes to be successful. One of his biggest strengths is the foresight to see how a player will fit into the framework of a team. He always signs players with a particular role in mind and brings that player on, making him a better player. Over the last few years at Villa, Stewart has been very consistent. In the past he has had quite rough ride from the media. I’m not sure why that is for certain but sometimes if you play for a club that is outside the top six or seven, you struggle to get the recognition you deserve and people don’t believe in you.

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that Stewart will be a huge success at Liverpool. He will provide the ammunition for the forwards. Carroll and Suarez – I can see them both getting 15 to 20-plus next season if they stay fit with the kind of service they’ll be receiving.”

Ripley was purchased by Dalglish for Blackburn Rovers and was key to providing assists for Alan Shearer and Chris Sutton in the club’s title winning year in 1995.

It definately gives us more options. I just hope we don't resort to long balls to Carroll.

I've been saying this all along,Kenny signs for positions,he doesn't make pointless signings,He won't sign players that are exactly the same as what he had or make signings that offer nothing ie Niko Krancjar. There is a point to every signing he makes.

And Downing will give us much needed width and hes a fine crosser of the the ball. This is why he was signed and the team(especially Carroll) will hugely benefit.

Thats also the reason why he signed Charlie Adam, having width without having a deep-lying play-maker to spray passes is as much use as Michael Carrick in an opposition penalty area.

Apparently unless I imagined it Carrick did score against Roma. He may have just attacked the Roma goal. You may wish to PM Luis Figo no7 and tell him that.

And that's why the wums have exposed Dalglish as a charlatan. They must be sick of explaining why all we need to do is sign the latest foreign headliner for whatever it costs, then put them on the pitch. It works. Okay, Torres isn't working and hasn't for too long; Veron didn't work; Robinho didn't work; Voronin didn't work; but they're not proper foreigners and aren't making headlines like Mata and Aguero. Or something.

Sheesh, we need to open our minds. English won't get you success. Ask Fergie. He needed Cantona to help Beckham, Scholes, Giggs and Neville. Okay, okay, the Cant already had Premier League experience but...erm...oh, shut up.
