31 GD worth an extra point if we are level on points at the end of the season. Only 23 goals conceded is the best in the league, so poor Harry M will have to wait a bit longer for a game. Despite our recent shyness, we are still joint 3rd top scorers behind Burnley and Sheff Wed. A very good day for City today, the best result of all the top 4, gaining 2 points on two of our rivals and clawing back 3 goals against Borough's GD. A welcome confidence-boosting win, with Maloney, Hernandez eased back into the fold. To see us thrashing Bristol 4-0 and with a game in hand will give folk in Teesside and Sussex summat to think about tonight, just as they thought we were ****ed. Beg pardon, Foolham down near the bottom have scored more - dint think to look so far down- can't correct title.
Who are you kidding... We had to win today otherwise it was play-offs for certain. With the players that city have at their disposal they should be 10 points clear by now. City have failed miserably to beat very average teams this season and that could (I hope not) cost them promotion. One win does not put right the last 4 home draws or losing away to Brum/Boro when controlling those matches.
We need 8 more results like this, starting on Tuesday at Derby, we win that, then we can really put the pressure on the other teams around us. I think we can have 1 slip up in the run in & still make the autos. Hopefully no slip ups! Let's not get carried away yet though. Got to believe & still 1 game at a time!
City are joint 4th highest scorers in the Championship. Not 3rd. City fans of longer standing know not to get overexcited with the highs and depressive with the lows, they take a measured approach judged over a long period. In that context, City Man spunking his Wilko Y fronts after today's win suggests he's either a newbie, or a pointless wind up merchant.
makes you wonder whether we would ever be in the Championship if Brucie hadn't chosen to put Macca and Curtis on the naughty step and farm Harry out to Wigan just to get Junior game time so he could persuade the Allams to give him a three year contract - funny how he never plays him now his future is secure
'Macca' should have been put to graze the first time his errors got us relegated. Once bitten twice shy, although I do concede his final game v Man U was his best for us. But it can't erase the memories of all the poor ones he played for us.
his errors got us relegated? It was his fault? You just stepping up the bollocks for fun or is there a special occasion?
Even in the first PL spell he did alright for us. It was only in the Championship under Pearson and Barmby that he went ****.
In our first PL season he was awesome, was it Liverpool where he scored and was just immense? I just don't think Pearson or Barmby rated him that highly. I think he had a better career with us than some people remember and certainly had more good games than poor ones.
McShane was alright when he was on loan, great game v Liverpool, but Sun'lan did that trick & took him back, when he came back next time he looked a bit **** & all over the place. A good Championship player but IMO not good enough for the PL!
Yes his error at Stoke in 2010 which allowed Ricardo Fuller to run clear unopposed is still a treasured memory. In the end Phil Brown/Dowie just stopped playing him as his confidence was utterly shot even at the home games against the likes of Pompey and Burnley. We couldn't give him away for about 18 months under Nigel Pearson after that. 'Awesome' eh, dude?
So presumably you think McGregor is terrible or that Andy Dawson is ****? Every player makes mistakes you berk, the reason we were relegated was mostly poor tactics and stupid signings, the writing was on the wall long before Macca made that error. I mean if you wanna go down that road, then what about all the goals Folan didn't score? That miss by JVoH? Nope, it was all down to that one moment from Macca.
