You know, this is probably why Ranger never scores any goals. Everyone calls him thick as pig ****, and while it's just a joke, it does lower self-confidence when it goes on and on.

I've even heard that some of his team mates call him 'Nil Ranger' because he hasn't scored yet. Yeah that's a great way to boost the confidence and take the pressure off a young lad. <doh>

Hardly. It's an intentionally misleading statement, that gives no real indication of one's intelligence should it be answered incorrectly.
I'm not saying that most footballers aren't simpletons, but you can't really base that on things like this.

Twitter's a harsh place for footballer's who arent fan favourites. Luckily he takes it on the chin and rises above the abuse but I still think he has loads of potential. A loan move to Birmingham or something would be very good for him, just needs a breakthrough season.

He has scored, twice in Championship, in pre-season friendly vs Carlisle and in League Cup vs Cheslea... just cause he hasn't scored in PL is a bit harsh when he get's like 15 minutes at the end of the match when other players are tired who would be more likely to assist him.

I remember having to answer a similar questions like this in exams when i was younger, and like you said the question is worded in such a way that it can mislead, but it doesn't take rocket science to re-word the question and get the answer.

Yeah, i saw! Hopefully he keeps this up and people notice how good he is! (basically a Swedish Darren Bent - mostly does tap ins)

No, but when most people are reading they're not really paying that much attention, unless it's something important (like an exam), so it's easy for even a genius to miss what's actually being said, if it's written in a confusing manner.

Ranger probably is a bit 'simple', but that to judge that based on this, is a little unfair.

So, people judge his intelligence on a riddle and you condemn that, but you say he's 'probably simple' and base it on absolutely nothing whatsoever?

So much delicious irony these past few days. Not sure if I can take another mouthful.

To be fair, going off what I've heard he is pretty simple, but I think they (the players - Barton on twitter being an example) probably take the banter a bit too far with him.

To be honest I quite like the fact he's having a bit of banter over twitter.... I used to get the impression he thought he was better than the average person but maybe this shows a bit of a change in his mentality.... Or am I reading way too much into this <laugh>

Actually I'm basing it on what Barton has said, and most of Nile Ranger's other tweets (and actions, like his gun photo).

He's so thick he needs to tattoo his name on the inside of his bottom lip so he doesn't forget.

He's a great little player, wouldn't mind him at SJP to be honest. :)

Shame it will probably never happen, can't wait to see what our team looks like after the transfer window closes.

Yeah i'd love him and he'd be cheap but even Graham Carr seems to have missed him (or probably doesn't think much of him). Plus i doubt Malmo would let him go!
Yeah same, i'm hoping for possibly one more signing (striker) but at the moment the squad's looking pretty decent
