Without fluffing the last corner he'd have likely been quicker, so in reality he penalized himself by going off. Had he have left the circuit to gain an advantage, then yeah, it should have likely been stripped.
I was more suprised that he could be 6 tenths down on the lap yet hold the fastest final sector where he went of and cost himself time. It's subjective, that's my point and DC touched on the issue of implementation. They rarely got it right on track limits/advantages when they had time to review it properly, they have no chance with a 90 second knock out system.
