fooking hell, what a game. That was intense exemplified/personified etc. Need to have a sit down now.
Nothing against Palace but I really hope they do get dragged in, more teams the better. If we win there then I guess they really will be worried.
FML bor, they do say looking grey makes you look distinguished. We are looking good even with your grey hair LOL
I didn't say they were promises with any substance behind them McClaren kept telling us it was about to get better, players would settle in, the masterplan would bear fruit - and it is bearing fruit - relegation.
I have to hold my hands up and say I did at the very beginning. The style of football was a breath of fresh air compared to the turgid dross we had grown used to (and complained about). I gave him the benefit of the doubt at the beginning and accepted it was a tough start, etc, etc. I was wrong.
How well we know that feeling this season! I thought you showed a lot of character, especially in the second half. Your injuries this season have been horrendous as well. Very good of you to come on here after that disappointment - well done mate!
Hmmm... When you say the beginning, do you mean when you battered us? You shouldn't base anything from that. We were bloody terrible. I would have liked you guys to stay up. I wanted Villa and Sunderland down. Unfortunately no one else can really be dragged in. Think Palace will be ok after they beat us. So, comes down to needing you guys to go. Still no guarantees who will stay up. I still don't feel confident about our chances. Still 2 from 3.
I think we could get something from Palace, even a draw wouldn't be that bad and they're only 3pts ahead of us.
No - that game was a freak scoreline. We battered you looking at the scoreline, but for most of the game it was close and could easily have gone very differently if the luck had run with you instead of us. We had quite a few games at the start of the season where it looked like we had played well and just didn't get the luck - Arsenal, Sunderland, Stoke, Chelsea. Then when we beat Liverpool and Spurs back to back I thought we may have turned a corner. It was a false dawn though. Our football since then has been abymsal. We had a tough starting fixture list for the first 10 games based on last season's table. Turns out that form went out the window anyway. In hindsight lots of those should have been our winnable games.. You take it on the chin though. We were worse in the late 70s and early 80s, so nothing will ever be as bad as going to watch that week in week out.
I just said to my gf I would take a draw now. I sat on the sofa for about 20 minutes, then went up for a shower, then was only when I came downstairs the result started sinking in. Really strange. I was so absorbed, stressed and worried, the fact we won 3 points took about an hour to sink in. haha.
Love these bits of AN. Why I love his attitude and personality as a manager. Really hope he pulls this survival off. Would be an insanely massive achievement. Look at what Newcastle has spend. To survive at their expense would be a managerial master stroke.
Funny how we go through a mix of emotions from just watching a football game, when it was 2 - 2 I really didn't expect us to win. Must admit though these late wins feel much better when they go for us and not against.
I'm not sure if you mistook what I said. I was responding to you saying you would take a draw at Palace. I was saying I said the same to my gf. That wasn't about the Newcastle game. I really didn't think we would win it when it was back to 2-2. Seen it so many times, Played our hearts out and get screwed at the last. Very rare we come back again to win. Takes me back to like...The home game against Derby County. Had that kind of feel.
