I've always love Shane Long, I've never shied away from that. Even when he didn't score. But if there is one game where I won't be too disappointed at seeing him injured, it's this one. As I've already said on this thread, I really can't see Leicester leaving any space in behind them for Long to run into. Not like Stoke were doing in our last away game, for example. You take that away from Long, you ask him to play in front of the defence, and he's half the player. Maybe not even that. If they turn up with their A-game, then I think we'd be much more likely to succeed with two, or even all three, of the old Mane-Pelle-Tadic trio. They can play in the space between the defence and the midfield. But given their form in recent weeks and months, it's far from certain that any of them will turn up with their A-game (even with Mane and Pelle showing signs of good form returning recently). Good to hear that Austin is back. With the pressure on Leicester, if it's 0-0 after 70 minutes, then I can see Austin coming on and a direct repeat of Old Trafford ensuing. I still maintain that a back five is essential.
I know Liverpool are playing Spuds but why would we want them to win? They are 3 points behind us with 2 games in hand. Surely Saints getting into Europe is more important to us than whether Spuds win the league, which they won't because Leicester are going to.
I have no wish to make things easy on Leicester. Not just us when we play them or for our own interests, but any other team as well. I don't want it to be "Oh yeah, Leicester. That was the year every team was awful and they all choked down the stretch and Leicester almost couldn't help winning." I do hope Leicester wins the title but I hope that someone gives them a run if the stumble or Leicester just destroys everyone and leaves no doubt. Let them earn it (which I might add, I think they are fully capable of doing) so that it means something.
My team (If Long isn't fit) would be 3 at the back to counter Vardy and Okazaki: Forster, Cedric, Fonte, Van Dijk, Bertrand, Targett, Wanyama, Clasie, Davis, Mane, Pelle.
http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2016/04/0...akes-confident-leicester-vs-southampton-pred/ Matt's gone for a 2-2 draw....whilst that wouldn't break my heart, MLT should be ashamed. He is supposed to blindly predict a Saints win....even if we play Barcelona.
I'd like to see a bit of sumo rasserling on the pitch on Sunday, Okazaki vs Yoshida. Won't happen though. Bloody footballers.
I like the look of this accept I think I'd favour JWP over Clasie at the moment. If he can reproduce the form he shows when he comes on for his cameo 10 minutes then he deserves a shout. Plus his free kicks of course.
I think we could sneak this, well I hope we do. Leicester have been a bit of one chance one goal lately. Hopefully that ends tomorrow.
I've been a fan of Leicesters charm offensive. Everyone wants them to win the league, but they're not rubbing it in the other teams faces by humiliating them in games. Lots of respectful 1 goal margins. Can't believe the last few posters don't have a place for Romeu in the team
... I'm with you .. I want us to score 2 or 3 ...these 1 - 0 wins are not good for the nerves (in reality we are creating quite a few chances) ...
Having read a few papers this morning, it is apparent that, whatever the result tomorrow, we won't get a look in. It will not be instantly apparent who beat, drew or lost to Leicester. I do understand it as the title race is nearly run, but I hope we will get a bit of praise if we win....they are welcome to ignore us if we lose. A Liverpool-Spurs draw would go down a treat if we win, but otherwise I want Liverpool to lose as we may not catch Spurs anyway.
Goes to show the strength in depth we have in some positions now. He's been very good for weeks (our third best player over that time, behind Long and Virgil?). But he's got Wanyama snapping at his heels. That one poor performance from Romeu against Liverpool (I would actually go further than poor, for me it was a horror performance), coupled with Wanyama having the opposite (despite only being pitch for 45 minutes, he was my MOTM), could well be enough for such a swap to be made. Some may see that a harsh, others may see it as life (when there is competition for places). Given that I personally want three CBs, I don't think you can also play Romeu and Wanyama in that system. Maybe in a back four, with an extra attacking player, the two could play together.
