    "So do unions"

Thing is the amount of millionaire polititians looking out for their own self interests are vastly outnumbered by those union members that the ruling tory classes deny the right to look out for themselves or their colleagues/fellow Union members.

So the cards are stacked in favour of the Tories due to them changing laws to keep the rest of us in tow.

Unions stopped being effective when their party stopped really listening to them..double edged sword...to be effective you have to have a say in power....unfortunately once that party hits govt..they become the elite...they stop needing the worker and now the union is made up of nothing more than wannabe politicians not worker representatives.

The socialist revolution didn't happen...a good thing too since it failed everywhere bar Cuba.

Everyone can dream of the equal society...history argues that there will always be an elite...some other dude who wants to be the elite uses the sheep to get there...everyone cheers then realises they've been shafted but then can't admit to being a sheep.

To be morose..our society will fall and rise like any other...but there will akways be an elite who owns it all; pretending it'll ever be different is just silly.

Just be grateful chance put us among the fortunate minions that don't have to walk for water ...get raped by soldiers or thrown in a pit for not bowing low enough.

We whine but we won the history and geographical lottery..even the poorest of us.

It's not about having some communist dream of ultimate equality across the spectrum of society

It's about having a just and fair country, where people's rights as employees are respected and their toil is rewarded in a manner that is equitable.

The disparity between those who have and those who do not, is widening every year in this country and that simply isn't right.

True but it's relative. The same language is used now as sixty years ago...and it's nonsense. It will have to widen beyond extremes to go back to the way it was when that language was created...or as it still is in various parts of the world.

It's the same old doctrine that annoys me when even the poorest in our country have more rights and opportunities than most of the world's population.

It's always argued in extremes is my point.

Sorry mate, but the fact that some poor sod lives in a mud hut and has to walk a mile for his water, is irrelevant to this discussion.

We're talking about our own society on the island we call home.

    Yes I know..

But what grates with me is that today..in this society more and more the whinging comes from middle class blokes who are comfortably off..went to uni...get on TV for protesting then become an aide to an aide and then bingo.. use their position to become rich.

My other point was that our goal posts have shifted but we still talk like it's 1913. It's not. We have made progress in our society.

The Unions...the left...belong to the middle class now, and the famous "have a goes"

Take union leaders... or Corbyn and his little followers. When did they work in a factory...live on the dole...get to Sunday and have your mum give you that one meal...?

And yethe too many people vomit out their guff like it's in the middle of the victorian age. It's not.

This 1% ****e...when has it been different...under any ideology when in power?

I'll repeat myself until I'm blue in the face.
.you can't beat it..look to the local community help your neighbor within the confines of our very fortunate state. Sounds jesusy lol but you know what I mean...

I largely agree with you BUT it's not 1913, we live in one of the wealthiest nations on the planet and we're seeing a huge growth in food banks, child poverty, millions who can't afford to heat their homes etc etc etc

If you use your ideology as a basis for comparison, you say....well be thankful you've got a pair of shoes and a TV you lucky ****er, and be off....

The 1% or should I say the 0.25% are getting richer, much richer and the disparity is increasing by the day.

    It's plain wrong.

My perspective isn't one of bitterness either, as I am extremely fortunate, but I remember where I came from and the worsening poverty I've seen in this country in recent years sickens me.

Yes...while unpopular I know...a token nuclear deterrent is needed to sit at the table...but for feck sake the Russians have done it for 20 years knowing that we know they only have bombers to deliver it..their missiles are more danger to themselves than us lol.. so keep a deterrent but the first strike is illogical in the game...retribution has always been the hand to have to negotiate. Use the money on self sufficiency..

High speed rail...again as you say...nonsense...spend the money on upgrading the existing infrastructure. But again..the argument between public and private onwrsip has become more important like everything else in our countries than just sorting it.

I wasn't accusing you mate. You sound like a self made man that came from W/C background but even that term is weird these days...most of us are pretty well educated...we don't work in factory's anymore...I'm not putting that down...my mums has been one and for last 20 years a shop assistant(she's 63 (...I'm proud she is...she has a better work ethic than I'll ever have. Most of my long term mates are proper working class in the old sense..I just don't like the idea of limiting ourselves and being proud of the fact....my country is built on that....

I'm from the "poor background" but I'm uni educated. I work in the public sector but hate the antiquated socialist union style I'm a member of...all infighting over ****e.

My long term mates are a mix...I went to grammar school because of NI system. I still have friends from that time but still recognise they live in a different world to me and I'm glad I do. To me a house is a house...a car is a car..they are utilitarian things...

My job pays for what I enjoy...

I have no big ideas......and have been happy since I realised I jade nothing to prove.

Sounding defeatist I know Tobes...but I'm sick of flying a flag when those that can something never do..

I'll look after me and next door...m
