We went to two centres today. I tried to convince the wife we should take them all in! Some of the characters were amazing.
My nan's partner always says that to my dad and his family (who keep racing pigeons)! Riles him no end.
Okay, so I apologise for sort-of bringing football into Koeman's, but it isn't really 'proper' football news. Anyway, story coming up. A nice one, possibly even heart-warming with an incredible gesture from a fellow fan of the beautiful game. Right, the story... --- About three weeks ago, I decided to pick a MLS team to support. I whittled it down to three, and then picked the San Jose Earthquakes. I tweeted about it, and received a message from a supporter in San Jose called Don. Don said he would post me - from the USA - some bits and bobs he could get hold of, so that I felt like part of the club. He didn't want any money for the items. None at all. Anyway, I got in today and was confronted by this box. And here are some photos of what was inside the box... An incredible gesture! Looks like I've got a team. please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
Amazing response. But, you can't just, "pick a team" surely (unless you live in Surrey and its Man Utd obviously). What were your reasons?
Picking a team in a foreign league means that you have a real interest in it. Can't compete with the team of your heart, but I can see why DTLW wanted to do it. This is what Saints are hoping American fans will do if they spread the word about Southampton. DTLW could encourage a few supporters of the Earthquakes to have us as a second team....DTLW is like a honey trap.
- I didn't want to support one of the big, 'fashionable' clubs that many British fans do - I didn't want to support a club like NYCFC which to me feels like it's a little lacking in soul - I wanted an underdog - I wanted a club who are somewhere I may feasibly choose to visit in the future - I wanted an American team, not a Canadian team playing in MLS - I dislike LA Galaxy and San Jose are their rivals - San Jose have had a couple of cup wins but no period of prolonged success - Some promising players + Chris Wondolowski (MLS legend) Oh and their stadium (Avaya Stadium) is pretty cool, even if it is three-sided. Google it. Ronnie Ekelund had the role of Technical Director, and Jimmy Gabriel managed them for a couple of seasons. Ted McDougall coached them too, bringing the Saints-Quakes connections up to three.
I'm liking the Saints connections, a bit of emotional attachment. I can't even imagine Ted McDougal as a coach though!
The next time I see a cyclist with over ear headphones riding on a main road without his hands on the bars and texting on his mobile phone, I'm going to run him down. Then I'm going to reverse over him. Twice. And you know what, they'll claim it was my fault. Vin

I support Minnesota United. I've seen a few of their games. This was before the announcement they are becoming an MLS team in 2018. I've even refereed on their home ground.
