The Danish striker joined on a free transfer from Arsenal in 2014 but has failed to make an impact and has had several disciplinary issues this season, including being fined for oversleeping and being late for training. Bendtner has been training on his own for the past two weeks and the club’s sporting director, Klaus Allofs, said on Thursday that they are hoping to let the striker go as soon as possible. “We have attempted to hold talks with his advisers and have discussed a solution. I think that there will be a decision soon,” Allofs told the German newspaper Bild. “We have decided that he does not have to come in for now. The fact that he has been training on his own recently was not something we wanted to carry on.” The 28-year-old Dane has scored three goals in 31 league appearances since joining the Bundesliga club. I'd had him me. Eight game pay as you play. He gets training(if he turns up), we get a good extra option, gone in the summer.
I thought the rules were that you couldn;t sign a player if he was registered with another club after the deadline passed - I can;t find anything to confirm or deny this so not 100%. As for whether he'd do a job - absolutely - let's be honest - Bendtner vs N'Doye isn;t too much of a brain ache is it!
For me he's an option to retain the ball further up the pitch and not goals. Every time we clear it it comes straight back, that's because there's no ball retention further up the pitch. Bendtner is an accomplished back to goal striker. Exactly what we need. I think he'd help Defoe get more just by enabling us to play further up the pitch. The alternative is we keep sitting deep, keep clearing the ball only to remain under pressure and keep conceding goals. N'Doye should be helping us do this but he's only played up front once. Not having anybody to keep the ball further up the pitch is killing us. Between that and the fullbacks giftting goals they're without doubt the main threat to relegating to us imo.
Die for the club attitude, enthusiasm and work rate needed from everyone to finish the season. Every point like a nugget of gold. Maximizing available talent, Sam's job. Don't think of Bendtner when any of these qualities are mentioned. He could do more harm than good imho.
Did you name a 25 man squad at the end of January? If so you cant bring him in. Need an existing space.
His 8 goals and 5 assists helped steer us to safety in the 11/12 season after Ji and Wickham completely flopped. We would have been down without his efforts. He was top scorer Nah, we let too many go. We have a few slots
