Just got a couple of prices for car insurance as mine is due for renewal.
I am 52 with loads of no claims etc., no points on my licence and drive a 1.0 ecoboost fiesta on a 2014 plate.
Hastings direct quoted £255 and Admiral £394!!!
Anyone with ideas who i can go with instead of these rip off merchants?

Have you tried comparethemarket? They normally have good answers to questions like these <whistle>

    Sorry, couldn;t resist.

There's a firm in Gilesgate I used to use called Castle Insurance services - they were alright for me when I had no claims but once I had none they were expensive - that was around 4 years ago mind!

Got it down to £200 with free legal cover so quite happy with that, not due for a couple of months so just doing my homework now in preparation.
    Cheers for the ideas :emoticon-0111-blush

I got a great deal from Direct Line where I only pay £350 pound a year for me and our lass as well as my 21 year old son... Normally getting a 21 year old costs a fortune, but I agreed to have a tracker fitted that monitors the driving and it dropped the price a hell of a lot, as well as making sure that my son drives carefully..

trackers are excellent but no good once you've eaten them.
Seriously though, they are a great incentive to drive carefully.

To be honest I'm not that keen on them, but they have dropped the insurance cost dramatically for having my lad added on, and he does get his own no claims bonus as well..

Its sort of nice to know that he wont drive your car like a loon though.
Know when i was a nipper i drove my dads car like i didn't have a care in the world, probably didn't either at the time coz i was always racing and driving when i was pissed up.

My youngest has one on his car.

Makes the insurance company and me have a good night's sleep.

Wouldn't want one on my baby though <whistle>

Audi A1 s-line and I'm paying £600 quid for a year with Axa. I'm 24 and have been driving since 17.

    Madness!!

(Disclaimer: Yes I'm aware that an A1 is a hairdressers car before anyone blatantly points it out).
