In the 2014 Cup Final, our negative manager somehow managed to motivate us to within inches of a 3-0 lead in the first 15 minutes against Arsenal who eventually managed to get the better of us in extra time. In the 2015 Cup Final, Villa's gobby and motivational cockney manager presided over an abysmal 4-0 whitewash of the massive Midlands club. Maybe that's why they would want him at Vile Park....he can organize their dross team far better than Sharewad or Garde.
I think you missed my point, I have no doubt SB would do a good job for Villa, but having had a succession of managers they need someone who the fans would accept and get behind and have no excuse if things didn't get off to a good start. I thing SB himself after his experience at Sunderland would not want to put himself in a similar position.
my biggest problem with Bruce is still going back to that night in Lokeren.. and all the team changes he made, threw in the towel in on what could have been a great adventure. a load of ****s threw bricks at me that night yet I was still annoyed at him more.
Agreed, it really pissed me off, Lokeren were easily beatable with the quality we had. Might be years before we get another shot at Europe.
risk you take playing a reserve side, error wouldn't have been important if wed stuck a couple in the other end.
Over two legs against a weak side it really shouldn't have mattered. We lose 1-0 a hell of a lot under Bruce and it's always the fault of the defender that made the single error of the game. Not the fact we scored 0.
It was 2-1 when Alex went off injured and the ginger mule galloped on. The rest, as they say, is history. Steve Bruce to blame for blemishing our proud Cup Final record over 112 years.
100% CORREC T. Spot on ^^^^^^^ this. The few Bruce Out nutters wont be happy mind. David Moyes or someone who is criminally insane will get the job..... imo.
Just imagine we had beaten Lokeren and gone through...... We got relegated the same season. Cue the armchair managers with "That ****er Bruce cost us our place in the PL because he wanted to focus on the ****ing Europa League!"
I've long held the view that Europa participation would have kept us up in the PL, as the squad would have been playing regularly and guys like McShane wouldn't have had their noses put out of joint by Bruce playing favourites in the league.
STEVE Bruce says he is "very flattered" by speculation linking him with the vacant Aston Villa job but insists his immediate focus is on Hull City. Bruce is among the favourites to take over at Villa Park after French boss Remi Garde was sacked this week. Speaking at a press conference today, Bruce, who is aiming to guide City back into the Premier League after relegation last season, said: "It's flattering for any manager We've worked so hard over the past eight months to turn things around after the disappointment of relegation. That's the only thing I'm interested in, getting us over the line. "It's very flattering, but there's been no approaches, nothing like that." Bruce, who lives in the West Midlands, was asked if there was any release clause in his contract with the Tigers. He said: "That's for me and my contract. I don't think you need to know about that." Bruce has been in charge at the KC Stadium since 2012 and led the Tigers to promotion in his first season in charge. City were relegated last season after two seasons in the top flight. Bruce said he had considered leaving the club last summer and would not be drawn on what might happen at the end of the current campaign. He said: "I contemplated my future last summer. I decided to stick with it and try to get us back in the Premier League. "I haven't thought about anything other than trying to get the club back to the Premier League "What happens in summers, is what happens in summers. "The next five weeks are huge for this club. "The one thing I can't stop is what appears in the media. If I can take the heat off us with the nonsense that's written about me, then so be it. "We'll see when summer comes." http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/Hull...tory-29032304-detail/story.html#ixzz44ZUQWzYc
