http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football..._the_day&ns_source=facebook&ns_linkname=sport Championship club Hull City say they would not welcome an approach from Aston Villa for manager Steve Bruce. Bruce, 55, is a candidate to succeed the sacked Remi Garde, along with Nigel Pearson, David Moyes and Sean Dyche. "No approach had been made nor would one be welcome," a spokesman for Hull, fourth in the table, told BBC Sport. Former Villa player and manager Brian Little, who recently joined the club's board of directors, will play a key role in the selection process. However Villa, bottom of the table and 12 points adrift of safety with seven games to play, are in no rush to make an appointment. Villa want a British manager to succeed Garde, BBC Sport understands. Former Leicester manager Pearson and ex-Manchester United boss Moyes have been tipped as replacements. Bruce, who has been with Hull since 2012, and Burnley manager Dyche are also possible candidates. The board's recommendation will need to be passed by Randy Lerner, the club's American owner, before a final decision. Former Villa striker Garry Thompson says the next boss needs to know the Championship, which is where the club are likely to be playing next season. He also says Garde's successor needs to have broad shoulders. "People don't realise what a massive club Aston Villa is," Thompson, who played for the club in the late 1980s, told BBC Radio WM. "You've got to be strong enough and big enough to carry this thing. Obviously, Remi wasn't." Bruce guided Birmingham City to the Premier League in 2002 and 2007, before doing the same with Hull in 2013.
There isn't really much they can do if he says yes and they pay the compensation. They'll easily double his wages.
'People don't realise what a massive club Villa is' the dickhead blurted. GTF. "Villa don't realise what a **** club they now are" Up there with the vermin in the 'do you know who I am?' stakes. Loathsome club, great to see them in a mess.
^^This - in their ****ish fans eyes Bruce is nowhere near good enough for their wonderful club, if they get this next appointment wrong (here's hoping) they're such a basket case they could drop straight through.
Dunno PLT but if you discover his secret would you let me know. He used to be older than me, now the ****er's younger!
I am not sure Villa would risk it, Brucey has been at Birmingham, and look what happen with Mcleish. Whether the time that has elapsed since he was at Birmingham is enough for the Villa fans to forgive and forget I don't know.
Once a Bluenose, always a Bluenose - any true Villa fan definitely doesn't want Bruce anywhere near their team.
Bruce isn't good enough for Hull City so why would anyone think he's good enough for Villa - City's announcement is the good old double bluff, pretend we don't want him to leave because we think he's good and hope Villa take the bait
Yeah, just like when that **** Barmby played for Leeds. No self respecting City fan would want him anywhere near the club...
1. Lerner is trying to sell Villa. Allam is trying to sell City. 2. Villa have more history & success than City. City are far more unfashionable from a myriad of perspectives. 3. Lerner has much more money to payroll Villa than Allam has to payroll City. 4. Bruce has history of getting teams up from the second tier. He may not be happy with the Allams approach to doing the same. 5. Villa fans will not give a **** about Bruce's history with Brummy if they want to rebound back immediately. 6. Bruce would be daft if he didn't go there if offered the job. The Allams would not recognize the folly of letting Bruce go. 7. Good luck Brucey. Bad news for City if they don't get promotion.
Even if Villa did come calling, the Allams would demand compensation and they have paid off how many managers of late…?… the owner is rich obviously but the loss of revenue might affect their decision to have to pay for a new boss from a pure business and accounting perspective. From Bruces perspective, I think we all agree he likes a cheque book does Steve Bruce, especially with pre signed cheques to waste willy nilly. So unless Villa make substantial money available, I don't think he has the skill to motivate the existing playing staff who are frankly at rock bottom and will find the Championship harder than the gutless performances they have shown this season in the Premiership. Not being able to spend someone else's money might make him think twice. I fear we're stuck with him until the board wake up and smell the coffee or whatever else it is that stinks.
