Anyone know anything about Bertrand's recovery from a knock? I think Spurs may draw, after their international exertions, and this game may suit our counter-attacking nature - perhaps a draw too.
Looking forward to this encounter with little Leicester. When I say little, I don't mean the size of the club, but the size of the players. Apart from the two big centre halves, they're quite a petite team. We scored through two set pieces in the home match and with our headed goals stat(best in league) then this is an avenue where we can hurt them again. In the first half of the home match they dropped off us and tried to hit on the counter and it really didn't do them much good, it's not till the second half when they were forced to come at us that the game changed. We couldn't cope with their wasp like performance. We lost the fight and we lost the three points in what was one of the best displays i've seen from an opponent at St Marys in recent memory. After their sub appearances, it has to be Vic & Sadio in for Clasie & Tadic. The big question is whether Ron sticks with a four of goes back to a five
As I remember, they brought on Mahrez and Vardy second half against us, which nearly undid us, and since then they have also acquired Kanté and Okazaki. With Albrighton and Drinkwater as well, they have the strike force which sits at the top of the Premier League. Yes, they are all on the small side, but that suits the style of football they play. I agree we should be able to outjump them, but we also need to close them down and stop them running in behind our defence. I'm worried if we play 3 at the back, our full backs will be left stranded up the pitch like they were in the first half against Liverpool. I think if we revert to 4-2-3-1 with Vic and Clasie as the 2, we should be fine.
yup, I would go with; Forster Cedric fonte vvd Bertrand wanyama classie Davis tadic mane pelle bench: Davis, Yoshida, romeu, jwp, jrod, long, charliefuckingaustin.
No Shane Long?! Huth and Morgan will compete very well in the air with Pelle, but Long can beat them for pace hands down. I think we should try and play them at their own game, sit deep, hit fast on the counter. Leicester are not as strong at home as they are away, particularly when they're expected to put the pressure on. I'd put Romeu in for Classsie too. Oh and I'm bored of Tadic. JWP instead.
My abiding memory of the game, apart from the 'never say die' attitude of Leicester and the (naive?) introduction of Clasie, was how their two centre backs completely dominated Pelle. At that time our entire tactics seemed to involve hitting high balls to Pelle and hoping for some kind of flick on. Despite some blips I think we have developed tactically since them. If Mane, Pelle and Long can show the sort of form they have displayed recently it could be one heck of a game.
I predict that VVD will own Vardy this evening, to the extent that the little scamp will be so psychologically damaged by the experience he'll refuse to play on the weekend. Ranieri will force him, but he spends the 57 minutes he's on the pitch cowering by the corner flag in fear, and only touches the ball once, when it's threateningly booted against his backside by the aforementioned Van Dijk. A simple 0-27 win for the Saints. Mané double hat-trick.
Like that from a Saints point of view, but, let's hope for England's sake that whilst VVD is terrorising Vardy, another England player scores three. Then everyone is happy.
Still no announcement about officials....they surely must know by now. Unless one of you has a different source.
Quite looking forward to this game recently. Now I was one of those people that 3/4 weeks ago would of been happy to let Leicester have the points from this one but now Europa seems a possibility then we're just gonna have to turn in the perfect away performance. Sorry Foxes but we'll make up for it on penultimate day at the Lane!!! I'd like to see the back 5 and Cedric back in.... not sure about Martina in a 4 especially with Mahrez in the other team. My prediction - 1-0 either way.
We played with four at the back, against Liverpool. The only reason we kept getting caught out, with our full backs upfield, was owing to us donating the ball to Liverpool, in midfield, and allowing them to get at the 2 CBs. Playing 3CBs could actually be the better option against a fast, direct team, as the space through the centre will be less than if covered by just 2 CBs (in theory).
Yep who knows we might even make it to September this time. I am avid Saints, but just want Leicester to stick it up the big boys so much. It will completely break the mould that Sky and the press want us to believe in, so if we miss the the Europa so be it, if Leicester take the title. Even if we did qualify, 50% of this forum would then ask for us to play the reserves on the Thursday to ensure we get the first team out the the all important Premiership on the Sunday
