... sometimes I wonder if you actually watch any football ....Alli has very similar 'rush of blood to head' characteristics as Scholes did and has arguably only escaped several more yellow cards than he might have got due to refs taking into account his youth ... that won't last and he quickly needs to curb such indiscipline because a red or accumulative yellows would cause considerable harm to the team's chances at a tournament (not to mention his own participation) .... .. if he manages to do that his future is indeed very bright ...
Alli is 19yrs old! He has many things to learn still, including keeping his temper and not rushing into things. I never bought into this 'poor old Scholesy can't time a tackle' rubbish. He knew what he was doing, and could be a right nasty little bastard.
... nothing to argue about in any of that ... .... watching Alli the other night I was reminded of both the young Beckham and Gazza ... not in terms of playing styles of couurse but of the 'red mist of youth' ... would be a tragedy for both him personally and the team if he was either to get sent off or miss a crucial tournament game through rash stupidity ..
I don't think that they're letting him off because of his youth. He doesn't make that many fouls, really. Most of them tend to be minor ones in the opposition half, but he does mix in the odd revenge foul, which he needs to cut out. The officials probably realise that he's on the end of far more than he makes. Bournemouth didn't have a sniff against us in the last game, yet he still felt the need to get Arter back for a late one. Pointless foul and a vague risk of a booking, plus the put a rare ball into the box and won the header. That could be costly on another day and it gains him nothing.
As far as I can ascertain, Scouse grammar dictates that every sentence begins with errrmm, and ends with like!
