I'm aware of Taylor Swift, but I prefer her lesser-known opus: F1 is Sh1t.

Honestly though, I've just never understood the attraction of motor sports for spectators. I'm sure it's exciting to be in it, but watching it?

 

Could say the same about all spectator sport really.

Much much more to it than that. Of course nothing gets the media and people talking like a good crash. But fans watch because of the histories of the different teams (or lack of history if it's a brand new young upstart team), for the different personalities and styles of the drivers and the rivalries between different ones, for the histories of the different circuits and the challenges their layouts present, for the technical and engineering aspects around designing the cars and engines (if you're not interested in this or don't follow the sport quite closely this can be a bit taxing for the casual viewer), for the noise and speed (new engines haven't helped by reducing noise and lowering decibels and engine pitch), for the use of strategy, for the odd few controversies that crop up every season, and for the glamour and ridiculousness of it all as epitomised by Eddie Jordan's dress sense. You've obviously never been to see an F1 race in person. You should do. It might change your perspective

 

yes there is all that too... but theres nothing better than a spectacular event be it an overtake thats audacious or a massive crash.

One thing that has occurred is the devaluing of overtaking with DRS

These years of less and less entertainment means there is more and more geeks like me loving the engineering side of it

It was a better sport in the dim and distant past though... it has lost a bit, not through safety aspects but through just plain.... stupidity of its effective owner.

 

In all seriousness.
To me, it seems all about engineering and little to do with sport. I understand that there's talent involved, but I don't find it interesting to watch.
Obviously if people like it then it's nothing to do with me, but I just find it a bit dull.
