It's a bit of an unspoken rule to be super-duper-duper-duper positive on the match thread. A tradition started by FLT, and it's a good one. FWIW, this game is the only one of this season where I won't be too disappointed if we lose. I really want Leicester City to win the PL for the sake of modern professional football and, as long as we qualify for Europe in some shape or form, I won't begrudge them just beating us. But of course I would much prefer us beating them and that events still mean they win the PL this season.
Which is my point about packing our defence, and ensuring that we don't give them space to counter. The longer the game stays at 0-0, the more the pressure cranks up on them. Especially if Spurs have won the day before. Playing a back four where Martina goes wondering is a disaster waiting to happen.
I think Vardy needs a good rest after his England game(s), he will/did (delete as appropriate) to his International games.
Hoping this one is close. Our last away game of the season. Staying with old friends (Leicester Saint on Saintsweb). Think we might sneak it, especially if Virgil helps Vardy to the floor once or twice tomorrow evening....
I've never really been any good at predicting games and this season is just ruddy bonkers. So another confident and traditional 3-1 to Saints here. So far Leicester have coped fine with the pressure but I'm hoping (for one game only) it gets to them on Sunday.
I'm one of those who wouldn't be that hurt if we lost. Bear with me. Those three points wouldn't mean much for Saints, they could push us a spot up on the table come season end, but we still won't achieve anything that remarkable, objectively speaking. Whilst Liecester have a chance to achieve one of the greatest feats in the history of football. Something truly special and remarkable. Well for that to happen I could just manage to shun my devotion to Saints for a day.
Er....it could be the difference between Europe and no Europe. Pretty big deal. Leicester's fate is their problem, not ours.
I agree with DTLW. I want us to win and I want Leicester to win the league. We just have to beat Spurs too. I actually think Leicester have been quite poor lately. Solid but nothing too exciting. Saints to win 4-2 as things get crazy.
Too close to call for European places. We have been poor sometimes during this season...yet in theory we could make the EC Definitely need a win, so (as said) Leicester are on their own. We'll just do our bit by being fair minded and beating everyone.
I had another look at the Liverpool highlights, today, and near enough every Liverpool attack stemmed from our inability to retain possession in their half. Leicester are just as capable, as Liverpool, in mounting very quick counter attacks, so this is an area where we have to improve, massively. We can't afford to give Vardy and Mahrez the same opportunities as we gave Liverpool. Looking forward to Wanyama v Kante. Could be a key, match winning battle in midfield.
I was beginning to think Jay had dropped out of the collective consciousness. He did score a hat trick for the U21's last week, and I would imagine he will get on the pitch before Charlie boy. But it would be nice to see a bit of both of them.
I think he did. There have been times in recent weeks where I felt sure people had completely forgotten that he played for Saints and was due to comeback. I worried about him before, but this time I think he'll be fine. If anything that old knee injury must be super strong now, and I've not heard a thing about him having pains in his feet, since his operation.
Surely they have to have an off day at least once this season! Luck with having a fully fit squad the whole season helps, but every team has those games where no matter what you do, the football gods are against you, it has to happen to them sometime soon surely!
Jay and Charlie will have been training together as a front two so it would be no surprise to see them both coming off the bench. The interesting choice will be who starts with Long. Can see Pelle rested for this completely but largely depends on who looks strongest coming back from internationals. Nice problem to have!
