Even better, Mane and Pelle seem back on form and Wanyama (after a long suspension) played well in a terrific win against Liverpool (where Saints recovered from being 2-0 down to win 3-2)....so hopes are high going into this match. Saints need to win to keep on track for a possible second season in Europe. Now back in 7th, though other teams have games in hand. Hopefully we will also gain revenge for the most harrowing 2-2 draw in living memory. Both teams will be anxiously waiting the return of their players from international duty.
I suppose you expect me to sticky this, don't you? Tsk, tsk. Never thought you suffered from impatience.
I'm seeing far too much nonsense about being happy about losing, or even wanting to lose, for the benefit of Leicester's title challenge. Not with this Saints fan. I want us to win every game and finish as well as possible. If we beat Leicester, we'll just have to beat Spurs too. Anyway, if the Foxes want to win the title they need to do it themselves. I hope they do, but I want us to beat them. And - hold the phone - I think we're going to beat them, live on TV, with Spurs closing the gap to two points with six to play...
I know it should be 3-0, but I still like that old scoreline. We made it popular as far back as League One when it seemed as if we were winning every match by that score. Something for everyone.
Saints are usually crap after an international break, but I`m going for 2-0 Saints. I could see both teams being cagey, then in the second half, Leicester start forcing it, and we pick them off on the break. Or this could be nonsense.
Leicester are doing the 1-0 wins that Champions need to do, so not big scorers. I can see us getting a couple of goals, so a 2-0 or 2-1 win for us. Just need Forster to 'accidently' tread on Vardy's foot after the Tuesday match.
If we revert to back to Cedric-Fonte-VVD-Bertrand-Targett then I'm backing us to win, or at the very least get a draw. Playing that back three/five is key for me. Denying Leicester the space to counter attack you is so important. There is no way we can play like we did in the first 45 minutes against Liverpool, where we left ourselves so incredibly open. Leicester would kill us, and unlike Liverpool they wouldn't let us back into the game. That said, due to Pelle returning to some form and both Wanyama and Mane having excellent 45 minutes last time out, I'm not quite sure who my other five outfield players would be. Maybe: Forster, Cedric, Fonte, VVD, Bertrand, Targett, Wanyama, Clasie, Davis, Long, Pelle? But then again, looking at Pelle there's a risk that Morgan and Huth might be able to handle him quite easily, and looking at Long there's a risk that Leicester will sit so deep that he wont get any opportunities to run in behind. So maybe Mane, or even Tadic, for one of them? I presume Austin will still be injured, and Jay no doubt will only get as far as the bench (at best).
We should have beaten them earlier on this season and we'll make amends! 2-1 Saints. Those plastic things they give the fans can **** off
Im not feeling as openly optimistic as most of you.. Their is a reason they have only lost 3 all season.
