Agreed. Rooney will be in the squad, as he should be. I hope he sacks the run in with Man U off and is 100% fit for the Euros.
Not really. We played a style of football not seen by an England team for decades. I don't think the concept 'friendly' exists between an England or Germany side - certainly not with some of the tackles made. You didn't hear the German fans booing at full time? No one is getting carried away - it's a refreshing style of play by a vibrant attacking team. It's not a question of dropping Rooney, there just comes a time in any players career that there are better options in the starting 11. Rooney at the moment is nowhere near that starting eleven - sub at best. Even that's pushing it. I haven't seen England play that exciting style of football before, I'd rather see that than the old guard return to the starting eleven and be served up the usual horse **** England disappointments. Wouldn't you? Maybe you like dull?
Rooney should be nowhere near that starting 11, nowhere near. Grossly overrated. Time to let youth in on the party.
If Rooney is in the starting XI (which based on Woy's ****ing comments, he will be), it will a major step backwards. The man is sub at best, too bad Woy licks his ****ing arse, the prick.
I didn't see the game because I'm stuck in Redcar and they don't have tellies but let me tell you that that performance was the best by an English side since we beat the German's by six goals to one on there turf in the late 90s in a so called friendly that was anything but. That night a young Michelle Owen scored a hard trick including one where he outran the whole defence, rounded the keeper and shot into the top corner. Rooney should go to the Euros but more of a coach/mentor to the new generation. But play him as a sub cos he deserves the chance to break Bobby Chartlons record!!!! I'm putting £100 on us winning, as an outside dark horse, as soon as I get out of this hellhole.
It was a great result! BUT lets remember it was a friendly! How many times have we been built up to fall when the comp gets going? The Germans would be a very different story if they were playing for 3 points. On the Rooney one, I'd play him just for his experience in comps! if fit of course.
Young players bring pace, energy and enthusiasm. We were all over the Germans like a rash because established players with big reputations expect to be given respect, space and time and they didn't get it.. For me Rooney goes into every international competition acting like 'the big I am' and he comes out whimpering at the end because he's 'the little I'm not'. He's done nothing for England in finals and he's done nothing outside the Prem, but instead of accepting he still has to prove himself (like the younger players do), he just struts around trying to look like a galactico. If they're good enough they're old enough.
Exciting times as players return from injury and others emerge (especially Dele Alli). Just a shame it'll turn to **** at some point because we're weaker at centre back than at almost any point in the last 35 years. Maybe we can win every game 3-2 or 4-3...
Despite what some on this thread have said, Stones has to be in the XI for me. Cahill and Smalling is a **** pairing.
Stones is garbage. He doesn't even get in Everton's side ! I don't know why anybody thinks he's any good ?
Hmm... he's played 30 times for them this season, the joint most of their defenders (alongside Funes Mori). He's played the most PL games of their defence too. You might want to check your facts before posting. People probably think he's good because he's one of the most promising English defenders for years. Who do you want in defence, Phil Jones? I love how people think overrated = bad.
