I see Nick Blackwell has been placed in to an induced coma after a bleed on the brain I believe, It was a fantastic fight and I hope he makes a speedy recovery. Bearing in mind the Eubanks family went through this with Senior v Michael Watson http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/boxing/chris-eubank-jr-leads-twitter-7637425
Nick Blackwell I watched the fight last night and it's a disgrace the fight wasn't stopped in the 7-8th round. Eubank jnr battered him and I lost some respect for Gary Lockett as he should have pulled Blackwell out of there. Hoping for a swift and full recovery. Eubank on the other hand really is the real deal.
Change the heading for me Valley, I was just reading about it after watching the fight and had a brain fart when creating the thread.
Watched that fight lat night was very surprised to see it continue so long. Hope the lad recovers okay.
It's shocking the ref never saw what most people saw and credit to Eubank snr for instructing his son to only go for the body. This ref must be brought in front of the BBBC to explain his actions.....Eubank jnr was far to good for him and the fight should have ended sooner...
Firstly i hope Blackwell makes a full recovery. A good fighter at his level and also so brave that he would have carried on. The ref stepped in when the eye damaged worsened. At no point was Blackwell on the verge of being knocked out and was still fighting back so its difficult for the ref to just step in and stop it particularly when his corner dont withdraw him. I do think it should have been stopped sooner but rewind a few months and Eubank Jnr gives a similar one sided beating to Spike O'Sullivan. O'Sullivan no doubt could have carried on but like Blackwell had little to no chance of winning. His corner recognised that and pulled their man out. Ultimately the ref intervened and called the doctor. Too late but at least he brought him in and lets hope that intervention is enough for Nick to make a full recovery. I dont think his corner should have allowed him to come back out after about 7 rounds. The punches he did land were not having much impact - Jnr looks as hes inherited his fathers great chin. Im sure the ref and the corner are both devastated by what happened but also boxing also needs to have a look at some of these match ups. Should Eubank really need to be fighting for the British title when hes in a position for a World Title fight.? I dont think so. He needs to step up and take on a challenge.
