Its worth it, especially as you're an engineer. Get saving.:emoticon-0148-yes:

I'm not an engineer, but I'm sure it's worth it. I know you said you don't like Silverstone, but I've been there and raced a super car around the circuit a couple of times, I would love to go and see the F1 there as even with super cars, the noise and seeing them racing around the track was great.

My family used to live at Farningham in the '60s and '70s so i used to go home on leave from the RAF to go to Brands. walked there, about three miles, as was much faster than going by road. Loved the place and the racing there. much more interesting, and scenic, than Silverstone.

I believe that was Bath-Canary who said it, I can only wish I had a skill like that.

What car did you drive? Silverstone had an open day yesterday and I was thinking of going down (it's a 20 minute drive for me) and banging an Aston Martin around the track, unfortunately I got caught up in the T20 India v Australia and never made it, will definitely do one of their Ferrari Experience days at some time, smashing one of those down the Hangar Straight at 150mph would be awesome.

First time I drove the Aston Martin V8 Vantage then second time it was the Ferrari F430 Coupe.

I'm not sure there's much here that will change things for the better. There's no effort to clean up the air behind the cars which will make passing equally hard, if not harder as the cars will be wider.

Everyone running round faster will make mistakes more likely but not improve the racing and normalising the engines will mean that there will be more processional races as no one will be able to pass anyone on sheer pace.

Tyre degradation does add an interesting stare gif element and jeans cars run at different speeds however this effect will be toned down.

It's classic committee design, everyone had a different agenda and the compromises will mean none of them are achieved.

Personally I would scrap practice 3, put quali in there then run a sprint race for , say, quarter points then randomly pick a point to flip the grid at for the main race like in touring cars. Fast cars out of position is the only way to promote racing.

I miss the noise, the raw power roar, all the technology kills the racing. I understand the progress being made and the benefits it brings to ordinary car manufacturing, but...I miss the excitement of engines roaring during wheel to wheel racing, the crashes the real edge of the seat stuff! I remember being at Brands Hatch in the early 70's when Hunt and Lauda overtook each other 5 times in one lap, the crowd was going mental, the ground was shaking.. IT WAS EXCITING! I don't think that will ever be re-created sadly!
