  4. It was a great England performance. However, I do believe that it is legitimate to look at which club made the greatest contribution to this superb performance (undoubtedly, the best England performance for a good 20 or so years), and one has to reach the inevitable conclusion that that club is Spurs.

So, yes, a great England performance, but I doubt that any of you would deny a big round of applause for Levy, Poch, and the entire Spurs squad. Let's all show our gratitude and respect, eh, lads?

If we want any chance at the euros we should ban all Liverpool and Arsenal players from our team

That's twice in one week Emre Can's been on the losing side after being 2-0 up.

Liverpool players should not be near the England team

Interesting what happens when you shift out most of Sky Sports big four's players. Just need to drop Henderson and Lallana and it'll be an exciting summer.

Tbh anyone who thinks Germany won't be stepping up a gear when the tournament proper starts is kidding themselves about the match yesterday.

We played well but while we put some emphasis on these games, the more confident and accomplished national sides rarely do.

I remember a certain game 6 months before the 2006 world cup when we thought our players were the bees knees... uncannily similar events to last night aswell. And look what happened 6 months later.

  12. You can only beat what's put in front of your, Trebs. You know that, mate.

Spurs had to contend with a very strong German side, on their own turf. It wasn't easy for us.

Anyone else's Facebook feed full of cringey "Spurs 3-2 Germany" posts?

If you put your spuds hat to one side for a second HIAG and consider the fact it was only a friendly, then it puts the England game in context.

As for spurs, I hate to break it to you mate but the germans beat you 3-0 on their turf, and 2-1 on yours <ok>

  15. Trebs, what you seem to be forgetting is the fact that Poch fielded a very weak Spurs side against Dortmund, whereas Roy fielded a very strong Spurs side against the Germans.

You can only beat what's in front of you mate

But I'm glad you're getting the idea of context when it comes to games.

Will be interesting to see which of the spurs players in the squad will become the scapegoat for the inevitable pen miss, sending off that we all know will crush engerlands hopes in the euros.

Im going for kane, they build them up and knock em down, only because hes been built up the most by the engerland media, his only chance is that woy still plays wooney for much of the tournament and him and vardy only get cameo appearances.

Seeing as its going to be four or five spuds in the squad chances are its bound to be one of them taking the stick.

  20. BBC's top for ratings are as follows:-

    Dele Alli (attacking midfielder) 9
England's best player and lived up to the pre-match hype comparing him to former England captain Bryan Robson. Contributed in all areas and could have had a goal but was thwarted twice by Germany keeper Manuel Neuer. His fine performance was marred with a bad late miss.

    Harry Kane (striker) 8
Excellent all-round performance from the Spurs striker. Worked hard, linked well and scored with clinical efficiency. A Euro 2016 starter.

    Danny Rose (left-back) 7
Not a bad England debut and did not do his Euro 2016 chances any harm. With no standout candidates at left-back deserves another opportunity.

    Eric Dier (central midfielder) 7
Another who has put his name firmly into Hodgson's plans for Euro 2016. Very solid in central midfield without being spectacular and capped it all with that towering injury-time header that gave England an outstanding victory.

The rest (non-Spurs players) were awarded a motley mixture of 6s and 5s, making it absolutely clear that the BBC professional pundits very much saw this as a Spurs win for England.
