We gave them a goal start as well. My Mrs walked into the room and asked if I was watching kids football. Hodgson has done a brilliant job with those lads and Henderson was outstanding, him and Dier are a midfield of outstanding quality.
I've thought for a while that this year's Euros are up for grabs. With this performance tonight, England have posted their intent.
I take back all the negatives ive said about England. What a performance!!! How good is Alli aswell by the way.
I've not given a genuine **** about the England team for some time now but if we can put together a group of young and hungry players with a bit of swagger and pride about them then I could see myself getting behind that.
Rooney and a few others will be automatics come the Euro's and thats where it falls down. Woy hasnt got the balls to tell the FA or senior players to do one. Bloody good performance tonight tho.
Exacly what ive been saying. Gooney will play every possible minute of the Euros infront of Sturridge and Vardy.
It was a great second half performance, with England playing with pace and flair. Would you play a Championship game like that though?
Time will tell on that one. but Hodgson reminds me of Sir Alf Ramsey in the 1966 and after campaigns, the press were picking his teams but he just got on with it by "picking the team I feel will best do the job" and let the opposition worry about England. Today's lads reminded me of the "Golden Era" that was predicted in 2001 but that was talent spoiled by Ericksen and those who followed. I think Hodgson has been around too long to be influenced by anyone.
First time I've enjoyed watching England in years. Time to move on from the 'automatic starters' in Rooney, Sterling, Wilshere, Milner & Carrick. They'll be in and around the squad no doubt, but shouldn't be anywhere near automatic starters.
It will take FIFA disbanding before I give international football any attention outside the big tournaments. Even those I watch as a neutral. I feel international football interferes with club football too much. When you're a struggling team trying to find a bit of form the constant stopping and starting is extremely detrimental imo.
Sponsors too entrenched now and the WC and Euros are big because of them. My bigger fear would be losing the FA cup before the league cup. Might be better off scrapping the Europa League..
It might take bigger balls NOT to play with most of those lads when it comes to the Euro's. If he goes back to his old style after beating the World Champions in their back yard, and ****s it up in June, Woy will be crucified in the press. The question now is, what can the likes of Rooney add to last night's team that isn't already there? There's so much pace and flair in that England squad now!!
I hope your right BM i just fully expect the tried and tested failures to be back in quoting " experience needed" in these big matches.
The way they played tonight Nos especially after going behind showed there was no fear. Stuff this keep possession football. Pass and move with flair and pace like we did tonight and we might just get to the semi's.
Hummels coming off at HT is a factor for me, he's a commanding centre half. Make no mistake, unless he's injured he's not getting hooked at half time in a competitive game. There's nothing to read into the result for me, the most pleasing aspect to watch was our work rate off the ball. I've seen England play well in friendlies enough times in over the years then go on to flop at the tournament when it matters. Some exciting players in the team, of course who deserve to be there mostly. Roy has to pick his team on merit and not on his favourites.
