Watching the replay of the 2-0 goal, yeah, Cahill is the one that needs dropping. Sometimes I wonder AKCJ if you just like to go against the popular opinion... Stones should absolutely be in the England squad.
Do you watch much Premier League football? John Stones makes mistakes every single week. He'll probably be on the plane, but he'll be nowhere near the starting XI.
I've probably seen nearly as much of Everton as you have, obviously you'll have seen more assuming you went to your fixtures against Everton. Virtually every defender we have makes mistakes nearly every single week. It's England's main weakness at the moment. Our defence on the whole is poor. Are you going to tell me now that Smalling nor Cahill haven't made many mistakes this season?
We're yet to play Everton at home but we've still put three goals past Stones this season. You're not wrong, it is our biggest weakness. But John Stones is definitely not the answer. Smalling and Cahill are in (while not at their best) much better form.
Until tonight I would have said Stones should start with Smalling but Cahill should keep his place going on tonight. Maybe the Euros is just slightly too early for Stones at this stage of his career

When we played Everton at Goodison I thought Stones looked class. He made 1 mistake all game where he lost Vardy and he got clattered by Howard for a peno but apart from that Stones looks like he will be the real deal. He is young and makes mistakes but so did Rio Ferdinand and he didnt turn out to bad
