Assuming we retain a core of Smithies, Robinson, Hall, Furlong, Luongo, Chery, Polter, Washington, El Khayati etc - I'm hoping that it's a case of building on this over the summer. To this end, and for what it's worth here's my thoughts: Junior Hoillet Out - Kemar Roofe In Matt Phillips Out - Rajiv Van le Parra In Daniel Toszer Out - Alan Judge In Assuming that we ship out: Rob Green Armand Traore Paul Konchesky Samba Diakite Sandro Raniere Leroy Fer (still think he'll come good; probably elsewhere though) We should then invest in at very least one more striker and one more defender: Michael Dawson from Hull City - an experienced Clint Hill type who could fill in as captain and mentor the young defenders. Nahki Wells - 1 goal every 2 games - a proven talent with potential.
Very happy with your outers there sku, but I 'd have no idea on inners! I have liked the look of wells though for quite some time. I do fear that Sandro & Fer will only be loaned out again next season, as will be the case with Caulker.
Good start. I don't think Dawson would come. He's sidestepped us on more than one occasion. Fer is a talented and lazy player - I don't think he'll get energetic any time soon.
Agree with all of that sku, except Dawson, too old, too expensive. I hope we sign Angella (permanently), and another CB, plus we definitely need another CDM (hope Doughty steps up, but if he isn't assessed as good enough, we need cover)
Roofe is on the radar of too many clubs to be in our price bracket - Judge has had a good season in a poor side, and would likely be similarily expensive. Watched van la Parra several times at Brighton earlier in the season - not convinced, and also struggling to get into an average Wolves side. Not trying to be a killjoy, but I think we might need to go a bit more off piste in our search.
That seems like a fair assessment to me sku. The other comments on your thread are good one's too. As seagull said I think we will be getting in some players that we've never heard of. I'd like us to sign a couple of players with pace.
Agree with the pace bit 9's, watching John Cruyff highlights earlier and the speed he could play at was fantastic. Also the game when Liverpool won 5-0 at Spurs a coupe of seasons ago and the pace and movement was incredible, I haven't seen football like that for a long time
I like what I've seen of the lad McAlistair from Peterhead.I know their in Scottish league 1,but he seems like a quality finisher.22 league goals so far,and shouldn't cost the earth, may be worth taking a chance on !
Another fine Cruyff observation - if I think faster than the others and start moving earlier, it makes me look faster. I'd like pace allied to intelligence and technique, a rare combination. And probably quite expensive. Otherwise you end up with SWP or Mandy Traore. Fast but pointless.
I'd add Perch, Henry, Angella, Clint, Phillips and Hoillet to that core to keep if we can without breaking our Budget. Too many outs and ins don't work as we saw all too well with Mark Hughes. The ones with PL experience already gone on loan are out already really, we'll just want to get more Cash In for them if possible.
