The entire strategy for the city of culture year has been bereft of direction. There's been no coherent strategy at all imo, primarily because they simply didn't have a defined vision for what they were intending to do. It's therefore been a complete car crash The new theatre debacle sums up the lack of planning, piss poor organisation and lack of commercial acumen of all those who've touched it.
HCC in "can't organise a piss up in a brewery" shocker. Gets handed golden opportunity, ****s it up and continues to make Hull look like a joke. And no one was surprised.
Bayes, it seems, does not learn. He tried to get back at the Northern Irish Police who arrested him in a hotel room with his then underage 17 year old male 'companion' in 2007 for 'invasion of privacy'. His application for a judicial review of the police's activities was thrown out because Bayes had waited far too long to initiate the request! This incompetent 'politician' has form for ****ing up the paperwork. Who votes these ****ers in?
The trouble is the majority of people dont take a blind bit of notice of whats going on. They dont notice the state of the streets. They dont bother looking at the dithering and cock ups that HCC make. But come election day ( if they can be arsed ) they go and plonk their cross in the box of continued same old same old. The likes of Brady, Fudge can then sit there with smug grins on their faces knowing they wont be challenged. It will never change in Hull.
Dint realise till recently Councillor Mary Glew was Steven Brady's sister. And that Nadine Fudge's daughter had followed her mother into the family business.
The whole of HCC is full of jobs for family and friends. Not a bad number when you can go on sickbwhenever you want and getbfull pay.
Yes. Councillor Clark is currently arguing the toss with me on Twitter, he seems to think everything's going great. Cockwomble.
The people of Hull That's democracy for you "It has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all the others that have been tried". Winston Churchill
The people of Hull in deed. A lot of those grumbling would need to live in Hull to get a say. It's not as though their own Council's are any better. Having a look at a few of the arguments offered elsewhere, I think a few need to review what the CoC actually is and revise their expectations.
The Council have been **** for decades- many of their faults have been the same for decades. Cronyism, incompetence, bullying but most damagingly got the region, a failure to attract inward meaningful investment from the private sector or central government. Surely no one could deny this state of affairs? The worst thing is telling the electorate 'Only we can defend you against the cuts and stand up for you' when the Council collectively are the main ones responsible for wasting money, and underperforming massively. Put into a football context, it's a bit like Terry Dolan and Martin Fish saying 'Put your faith in us, only we can lead you out of this mess.' COC17: All this whinging re the disruptive works in town or slow progress is garbage. People need to see the big picture and focus on the legacy of multiple improvements we will have. These were never going to come ready made and gift wrapped. Holes will have to be dug etc. Bit mischievous of Peter Levy and co to solicit complaints about it all and create a climate of scepticism and negativity. Shame people fall for it. But then again, we hear it every week on Mudbank with all the 'I never went today Burnsy but..." brigade.
He really is a cockwomble. I dealt with him in a previous job once and ended up basically arguing with him, he didn't have a clue what he was on about but I remember him saying he had "more fingers in pies than you can imagine". What a cock.
