Well, sorry to be a pedant but actually the word mentalist is already taken;

Mentalist- (N) Someone who uses mental acuity, hypnosis and/or suggestion.
Sherlock Holmes was a part time mentalist, and Derren Brown is the best example of a modern day Mentalist, other than Patrick Jane!!

I'm not sure if this is a sensitive subject, indicating that your grandfather was unfortunately diagnosed with a debilitating illness...

But, assuming ignorance and without meaning to offend, that is one of the best comments I have seen on this forum.
