That is the problem for any club tempted to buy him. If they can't get him to play at a high standard, in every game, will they give him as much first team football as he had here, during the barren spell? And will their fans be as patient as most of us have been? Hopefully we can keep him.
I think the major problem, for him and the team, Sunday, was him playing on the right. Before the incident, when he lost the ball immediately preceding their second goal, he had already had opportunities to hit right footed crosses, behind the Liverpool back line, but each time he opted to switch the ball on to his left foot, which meant turning away from the Liverpool goal and being crowded out. On the one occasion (I can recall), when he found himself on the left wing, he jinked passed the full back and forced a corner. Probably the only decent thing he did in 45 minutes.
It's funny. I thought JWP's passing was horrible when he came on, the pass to Pelle aside. His battling was excellent. If he can them both right, then hallelujah
May do it a few days early,,,,because everything that people want to say may be said if left to Wednesday before the match, but too early yet.
During my little run of clean sheets, the first goal conceded when I did the match thread on time (Tuesday/Wednesday)... all the others were late I believe due to commitments. Not that I'm superstitious or anything. *touches wooden table with crossed fingers, whilst walking round a ladder to avoid scaring the black cat that was sniffing my lucky pants*
http://thecomeback.com/32flags/engl...ign=happened-second-half-liverpoolsouthampton Piece describing the second half against Liverpool with emphasis on Liverpool's mistakes and the brilliance of Koeman's subs. Nice because it doesn't waste time on the first half (which is completely unmemorable), but does include separate videos of our 3 goals. Thought I would post this in case you have forgotten the game.
Even though the second half was memorable we were still largely unable to make simple 10 yard passes. Even Mane's first goal; the pass was actually underhit causing Mane to pause his run. Of course, it was that which enabled him to throw off his marker but really it needed an extra yard of pace on the pass.
The great thing is that history will remember the result with nothing about quality of our play. It will be remembered simply as Saints scored 3 goals to overcome a 2-0 deficit, so Liverpool were crap and we were wonderful.
Def need less time catching those little balls, and more time passing a football. First half Romeu tried to pass the ball, hit claise on the back ho was 5 yards away and they almost scored because our midfield was bypassed by our own sloppy play
Met a friend today who told me that he left the Sunderland match early and missed the equaliser, so made damn sure he stayed till the end of the Liverpool game. Lesson learned.
