Haven't they suffered enough without having Arsenal thrust upon them? Poor bastards.

Why are we having a two week break for international friendlies at such a crucial stage of the season?

Why not get the club games played now and give the international managers the chance to get players together a week earlier in May?

Why instead disrupt the club season and risk anxious club managers finding every excuse possible to withdraw players from international squads rendering friendlies played three months before the Euros even more meaningless?

You're not asking for this **** to make sense, are you? Why would that happen?

Even more interesting, the BBC seem to think Michael Owen was fouled for that penalty in 2002...

So it'll just be Dembele and Chadli that'll be attracting "terrorist" chants from the Chelsea braintrust then...

    Johan Cruyff 1947-2016

Always gets my vote as the greatest player. So much of what we see in the best of today's football started with Cruyff and his magnificent Dutch team. Total football was the biggest revolution in football in my lifetime We don't call it that now but it's pretty much what Spurs have been playing this season. They introduced the modern flexible football that we see all the time today. Lamela is a good example, in attack one minute and then seconds later defending in his own box.

I'm sure he will be remembered as long as people love football.

    I can't believe he's gone.

The tributes paid by various clubs' Twitter accounts say a lot...

Ajax: several articles and videos recalling his time at the club, and the banner changed to pay tribute to him
Barca: articles about his time at the club, and a retweeted message from the club chairman
Feyenoord: several articles and posts about him, plus a photo of the flag at their ground flying at half mast
PSV: an article about Cruyff's passing
Bayern: several posts, retweets and articles about Cruyff
Juventus: a tribute recalling their meeting in the 1973 European Cup final
Los Ladrones: a statement from Florentino Perez that mentions Real Madrid more than it mentions Cruyff

  19. A truly sad day. The term 'legend' should be reserved for the likes of this man!

This guy kept my love of football alive against the all the negative aspects of the game both on and off the field during the mid-late '70's.

The BBC have kindly compiled some of his best quotes and as Spurs fans I think we can appreciate many of them :)

    Cruyff in quotes
    On himself:

    • "In a way, I'm probably immortal."
    • "If I wanted you to understand it all, I would have explained it better."
    • "Actually, I never make a mistake, because it takes a huge effort for me to make a mistake."
    • "I don't believe in God. In Spain, all 22 players cross themselves. If it works, the game is always going to be a tie."
    On football and his philosophy:

    • "Playing football is very simple, but playing simple football is the hardest thing there is."
    • "Italians can't win the game against you, but you can lose the game against the Italians."
    • "Quality without results is pointless. Results without quality is boring."
    • "It's better to go down with your own vision than with someone else's."
    • "In my teams, the goalie is the first attacker and the striker the first defender."
    • "There is only one ball, so you need to have it."
    • "Why couldn't you beat a richer club? I've never seen a bag of money score a goal."

    RIP
