It looks likely that they'll have the third highest attendance in English football next season (smaller than Man United, but almost the same as Arsenal).

They've just got permission to increase the capacity from 54,000 to 60,000, before the stadium has even opened.

They've so far sold out the season tickets (41,000) and have a waiting list of another 20,000.

Good times for West Ham fans.

Got a great team and manager, challenging for both European football and at the moment still in the Cup.

I think they're gonna be up in that top 7/8 for a while.

Can't remember who it was but someone posted on here a while ago that the move would be a disaster with West Ham playing in a stadium with no atmosphere as it would be half empty. They said they would have to close upper sections due to there being so few there. Ironic, eh!

You laugh, but the zoning etc being applied as part of the membership scheme is actually based on what West Ham have just done at the Olympic Stadium.

So kids and pensioners are paying the same as adults in each area?

I said the zoning, not the pricing.

Getting the away fans in an upper tier was also something that came from discussions with them (among others), apparently a lot of clubs are trying to move away fans out of the lower tiers, several have done so already.

So it isn't like ours, really. Their's is well thought out with the prices pitched at a level where people want to buy tickets. Whilst ours isn't.

I didn't say it was like ours, I just said the zoning is based on theirs.

They've done brilliantly to sell the numbers they have, as despite the headlines about the new entry level season passes being just £289, that's just for Band 5, Bands 1 to 4 are £499 to £899, so they're not exactly giving them away.

Not too bad by London standards. Of course the interesting thing is how many will be "proper" old time Hammers fans and how many will be consumers there to experience PL games in comfortable surroundings. I would guess any sit down shut types which we attracted when we moved to the KC will get short shrift, as will stewards if they act like those morons we have at our place.

Does anyone have a problem with the zoning of the membership scheme? I think most appreciate that a "better" view comes at a higher price...

And do you think that is fair ? Do away fans pay less then the home fans to sit so far away from the pitch ? If they do I've never experienced it.
I don't like this move to rid stadiums of the away fans presence.
It's not too far removed from ethnic cleansing.
Would any other section of society tolerate it ?
I read on here that some fans prefer the away days to home games. I can see the attraction before the game but once inside the ground the last time I remember being able to sit or stand where I liked was at Peterboro. ( I didn't go to Bury) Every other time I've had to sit in a designated seat as far removed from the pitch and usually in some corner of the ground as high up as possible and surrounded by an army of police and stewards. I also dislike the police presence and the restrictions placed on those who chose to travel independently.
Even organised away trips like Tiger Travel are controlled by the police.
    Why ?
If clubs think so little of away fans that they all appear to want to shut them away as far away from the action as possible, yet charge them top dollar, then the day will come when the away fans will not bother travelling and football matches will be played in half empty grounds with no atmosphere at all.
Its just more evidence of the slow demise of the football day out.
Yet we all seem to accept it as the norm ?

There is still space in football stadiums for both, it is just that clubs don't seem to understand how to do it. Palace seem to have sorted it out with their 'noisy' end but not seen evidence of anyone else. Man U tried a singing section for, what, two games a couple of seasons ago...

Why would West Ham want to fill their ground with 60,000 blokes in their fifties and sixties?

Why do you think proper fans are in their fifties and sixties?

That's not what you said. You said "proper old time hammers fans".

Newsflash. It's not 1974 anymore either.

This ^^^^^^^^ Refreshing to see non standard top 4 that we have been used to over the years. Gives hope to everyone, especially Leicesters antics this year.
