    Before taking tax into account, 2000 STs at £500 each pays the wage of one £20k a week player. You can see why it's hard to make money from football

    there is a cap in the a league but you can hire a marquee player whos salary can be outside the cap
    which I assume is why the likes of Robbie fowler came out this way

    Not enough to change the model. It's the Prem. I was referring to Watford. It is actually possible for a small capacity club to be sustainable there now.

    That helps yes but I am pretty sure we are seeing a bit of this equalising effect this season with West Ham and Stoke doing so well. Leicester less so as their success seems to be primarily down to a good team spirit. Most teams in the Prem can now afford at least one or two very good players who can make a difference.
