If we don't go up I think a large number of our players will ship out. It will be a complete rebuild and I don't think we would be anywhere near the playoffs next season.
some ppl said the same thing this time last year.. "If we don't stay up I think a large number of our players will ship out. It will be a complete rebuild and I don't think we would be anywhere near the playoffs next season. who's to say we wouldnt get a new manager in, money made available by new owners and could end up with an even better "championship" squad than we already have?
I just think the team needs a fresh approach. Tactically we are very poor and we aren't getting the best out of what we have. Somebody else might come in and get them playing a different way. I don't know why Chazz is so loyal to Bruce, there's no need to be, he's not going to be the manager forever and he certainly won't be if we don't go up this year.
Is it from the album "your only as good as your strikers" the one with a pic of prozzy and Ann diamond on the cover?
Although the real topic of this thread was derailed by several pages of mindless squabbling about how to refer to our Club, it is increasingly evident that there is growing dissatisfaction with our Manager, his tactics, his style of play, and his failure to remedy our glaring deficiency - namely the lack of goal scoring strikers. As evidenced above he is increasingly the butt of ridicule, and the consensus, with the exception of a few diehards, is that he must go if, as now seems increasingly possible, we do not achieve promotion this season. In post #141 on this thread I expressed my views on what is likely to happen if we remain in the Championship next season. Others on here have stated similar opinions. Namely the loss of virtually all our top players, a new management team, a rapidly deteriorating financial position, an ownership increasingly desperate to sell the Club, and the end result of a massively weakened playing squad and a potentially sharp slide down the table, with relegation to Division 1 a growing possibility. This season can still be saved and we can still achieve promotion through the playoffs. But Bruce needs to change his tactics (can he?), and the team needs to rediscover its goalscoring capabilty (can it?), Time is running out. And the odds do not look good.
Yeah, seen exactly the same needy post on virtually every Championship forum. Laughable in its mock serious tone.
I can recall defending Bruce against the heckling of some Sunderland supporters. I thought they were premature and unfair in their assessment and comments. I still think the same. I formed this point of view from seeing it happen, living amongst it and discussing it, at length (sic) with lads whose opinions I respect. Our current situation with Bruce is different. His failings started earlier, he has shown a far more pronounced tendency to produce a team and tactics that make no real sense at all. He has consistently failed to understand the failings of his teams, he has admitted it - how this is supposed to enthuse us is beyond me. I think Bruce is on thin ice with the owners - he has to deliver promotion, it is all, absolutely all that is of any importance to the owners. Bruce is on the rack and only his players can save him - but will they want to?
Things aren't going so well, so we talk ****. We need another food based thread. It'll be bbq season in August for roughly a week. A sort of what do you put on yours type thing. Fish and flat bread for me.
