If they want Wanyama then we want Chamberlain. I think it would be great to get him back. He doesn't appear to have got big headed and I'm sure we could make him into the player he promised to be before Arsenal ruined him. If there are any rumours put them on here just in case they are not allowed on the actual transfer thread!
MOds.... When can the rumour thread be opened? It seems many people are already wishing to discuss it as it's been in a few different threads recently. Could we not just have a transfer thread stickied constantly rather than have a different one for every window?
As we said on the poll thread, this year's Summer Transfer Rumour thread will open at the end of April. And it's unlikely that we'll sticky it, mainly because we won't need to! We put a limit on the number of stickied threads as they tend to fill up the screen of mobile devices and you might miss somethings my new. Of course, if you want to dig up the January thread from its resting place in the Old Rumours Thread graveyard, no one will stop you, but I doubt it will get much in it until later in the season.
Cheers for response Chilcs, forgot the end of April was mentioned before Old one is shut I believe. I just thought we've had transfer talk in Liverpool match thread, Saints stuff and another in last couple of weeks.
Yes. He certainly would NOT be taking a step backwards joining us. Most are in agreement that Saints are heading very strongly in the right direction and we are beating top clubs in the Premiership...we're a hungry side and Oxo would slot in very well to our present team and aid in squad depth. Forget his Dad, I think Oxo knows his own mind now and I'm sure his Agent will accept a respectable offer from a club that has set high targets for itself. (and is realistic in achieving them)
http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...-oxlade-chamberlain-this-summer-a6948176.html Reported elsewhere. Now I know they are just citing the Mirror as source, but details, details. As we all know a repeated rumour has more strength.
As long as you can post a link Fran, it makes it infinitely more credible than anything anyone else might say. Them the rules, apparently.
You mean the same dad that lost his job at Pompey for not taking him out of Saints and back to Pompey?
Basic economics says that we should only buy him if we would buy him for the price offered if we didn't have history with him. Would we be looking for him if his early days had been with Bolton? His history with us is irrelevant as to whether he's a good purchase. And I suspect that we wouldn't have our eyes on him if we didn't know him. Vin
But, why? If some of our coaches know him inside out and how to improve him and negate his weaknesses, then surely that is good inside knowledge. We need a midfielder who could score goals, I know people say he only has 7 in 100 Arsenal games, however how many of them are as sub?
I always thought that Oxo was a better prospect than Theo and I remember him scoring two goal from right out on the wing at insane angles. He still comes across as very grounded and would love to see him back. Sadly, as always in football, it's the money that talks and we are in the buy cheap/sell expensive business. Pity.
Why is there an assumption that Arsenal, consistent top four finishers, are idiots who can't get the most out of a player? Loads of good 17 year-old don't develop into greatness. Just because we know him doesn't mean he's destined to get better if he comes back. Vin
Totally respect your opinion BV, but personally think Mane's current ability is greater than Ox's, as is Mane's upper ceiling if they both fulfilled the max. potential that they could reach. For me I would value Mane @ £30m if selling, and £15m if buying. Ox would be more like £15m if selling, and £7-8m if buying. If we could get Ox for under £10m (based on my value I know, not anyone else's) and get him to accept £50k or less wages per week with no guarantee of him being starter every week, then yep I may take the deal. Will Arsenal sell for under £10m? I don't think they will. Will Ox accept £50k or less per week? Not sure he will. Will Ox come back if he's not a guaranteed starter each week? Again, not sure he will. I'm not saying he's an awful footballer, just that I suspect that there are probably far better value for money targets out there who could perform at his level or higher. Better value for money means we have more money left over to improve other areas of the squad as well. Just my opinion.
