What's that got to do with me lightening up? Hull is part of our name. If people want to get wound up by me calling us by a name that the national and international press, national and international supporters call us then that's incredibly small time of them. Whatever issues there have been with FC (why we refer to them as that meaning no one can be called hull is beyond me) we're the big kids in Hull now.
It is part of our name that is used by the press to belittle us. A reminder that we are a small town club that doesn't deserve the respect of giving us our full name, even though its only 8 letters and a space. I find it odd that a City supporter would call us just Hull. So could you please call us City, The Tigers or Hull City. Thank you.
Interesting. I wonder what Leicester, Wigan, Norwich, Leeds, etc. Think about the fact their full names aren't used by the press either. In fact I see more articles these days calling us hull city than not. The Tigers isn't our name Mr Allam.

That's got to be the most stupid argument I've heard on this subject. So the rest of the country that refer to Manchester City as just City are being disrespectful to them? And the others. Really? To me it feels more like some people are ashamed of being from Hull and want to pretend we're a bigger club than we are. Which is a shame. We should be proclaiming our city's name loud and proud and not hiding from it because some find it embarrassing. The wailing and whining about this is frankly embarrassing.
I'm not wailing and whining I asked him politely to call us Hull City, City or The Tigers. I don't feel ashamed about coming from Hull. I've given a guided tour of the old town to three of my bosses who all live down South. They went away impressed by our history and our City. One of them compared favourably Princess Quay to Pier 39 San Francisco.
I'm always quick to tell people I'm from hull & support hull city! But when referring to us to other city fans it's always CITY never HULL. I do agree that the OB reason is a bit wide of the mark!
And I've already said wherever consciously, I refer to us as City and have apologised for the unconscious use of Hull, as any other forum or conversation requires me to call us Hull, a name I have no issue with calling us as it is part of our name and is more descriptive than merely city. I appreciate that you have been polite, and I apologise to you for any annoyance.
