I've yet to meet a single City fan who refers to them in conversation as 'Hull'. Hull is an RL team as far as people from this city are concerned, even though some now call them Football Club or 'FC ' for short. Hope this helps.
I hadn't seen that, it'll be interesting to see how NP get's on with a different structure behind him - I think just stopping the rot at Villa will be a task in itself.
We've done this subject to death, only the pedants (and our Aussie chum is the king of those) and plastics argue that it doesn't really matter.
How is calling our club by a diminutive of its real name more offensive than referring to it as the tigers? The only pedants are those with their panties in a twist because the rugby league club are also hull. We have the Sydney swans, the Sydney roosters and Sydney fc here in 3 different codes. Each refers to themselves as Sydney in conversations when the code is already clear.
Difference is, City fans don't give a **** what you Aussie ****s call your sports teams ... hope this helps?
So when we chant "Come on you hull" we're sending messages of support to the egg chasers? The reason I brought up the Sydney teams is OLM used them to try and explain why hull isn't used, when it really doesn't. But nice to see another person who can't discuss things without getting sweary because he has no substance to back him up.
Last I checked pleb wasn't a swear word, and fairly sure I was using it in jest! Lines of stars in response to me instead of a reasoned counter-point is the issue. If you'd raised me calling him a tit you'd have more of a point, but I was winding him up because of his utter rudeness to me all over the board lately.
A fair bit more than you it seems. So you never chant "You Hull!" or "Come on you Hull!" at games then?
It's bollocks, Hull FC are the rugby team. Hull is the city, we're referred to as such by people that aren't from Hull. If somebody refers to us as Hull and they're from our fair city, then fair game. But we've gotta stop getting pissed off when out of towners call us Hull, you think people from Norwich get annoyed when they're referred to as such? Do you always say Wigan Athletic or do you just say Wigan? We chant Hull City FC; that's much worse, it has Hull FC in it and also isn't our name.
Apparently you're a pedant or plastic. And here I was thinking that 'pedant' meant someone wound up about small issues, which is exactly what this is!
We get called worse things than Hull for ****'s sake. Probably the same knobs who get wound up about references to Humberside.
Do we really need to get stuck into each other for calling the club variations of the name? I think the only time where there is a warranted case to get fired up if someone jumps on board and calls us Hull Tigers. We're all fighting for the same cause, people just go about it differently. You can hardly call someone a plastic, I doubt there are many left supporting City in the Championship, I think the plastics would all have left and jumped onto Leicester by now.
