The lure of the new stadium must seem pretty attractive to our players, but (assuming we hang on to them in the summer), if bids come in for our top stars (Toby, Moussa, Alli, maybe Hugo and Harry) 12 months from now, how much of a risk is it that they might think 'bollocks to playing in milton keynes for a whole year. Im off now'. ?

I don't think it will matter too much where we are playing.

All depends if we can remain competitive and keep challenging for the title and other trophies.

I have brough uo this subject many times with spurs fans only to be ridiculed as a wum.

Its very possible you will lose some key players, either this summer or next, also your manager, if he can keep you in the top four this season, and again next, he will be hard to keep away from the clutches of bigger teams.

I cant see much happening this summer unless you are offered silly money for someone tbh, then levy will snap it up as per.

All but a small handful of clubs lose key players if bigger clubs come in for them and they decide they want to leave, other factors including the lure of CL and more money can influence a players decision should another club want them. Of course, some clubs will have different problems to contend with, like shifting highly over paid deadwood on long contracts (Balotelli for eg).

For years now, Levy will only ever sell a key player if he basically demands to leave, and goes on to rinse the buying club in the process. I think our lads can see real progress and are unlikely to want to leave, they can see Spurs are building something.

There won`t be the mass exodus that some rival fans are praying for, I think we will keep improving as a club into the new stadium and beyond.

I thought mass exoduses only happened if a club failed to qualify for the Champions League. That's what the media have been trying to drum into our brains for the longest time now...

cannot see a mass exodus oy your better players might lose 1 but Levy plays such hard ball you need to be very determined and with very deep pockets to get him to part with players your club wants to keep.
Your biggest worry might be keeping your manager if Man Utd or RM come calling - yes i know ManU are ****e but they still have cachet and near bottomless coffers.

PS Billy the Yid -you heartless bastard did you have to remind me that we still own that sack of ****e called Ballotelli <grr>

Re the stadium...the rumours are that we will be able to us Wembley for prem matches but will play cup matches else where.

Re the players...regardless of the "Levy will take any silly money bid" we do not sell our best players unless they demand to go.
This has been the case for years...Berbatov, Keane, Modric and Bale all kicked off and demanded to leave...it's also a bit rich for fans of other clubs to claim this makes us a selling club as United, Arsenal and Liverpool have all had to sell world class players cos they demanded a move.

Re the manager...he is negotiating a new contract so unless that goes disastrously he will be here for next season. After that is anyone's guess but as he is already on record as wanting to manage one of R Madrid or Barca he will leave but if he delivers trophies, CL football and a good squad then he will leave us as an attractive club for another good manager.

And if it all goes to **** then at least we've enjoyed the ride!

As depressing as it will be for others, there's very little likelihood of this squad breaking up. Pochettino is a very loyal individual and committed to the club going forward. The squad is committed to him. The one thing that may not be foreseen by most is that I see us doing a fair bit of business this summer. Yes, we've said that there's limited funds but we've got the money for 1 very decent striker (Berrahino?) I think we'll go ahead with Moussa Dembele Mk II as well which gives us a very good young striker for a limited transfer fee.

I can see Chadli moving on as he really hasn't got enough about him to be part of a top side. Bentaleb's position looks perilous as Pochettino doesn't seem to have much faith in him and it has to be said he's been poor on the few occasions he's got in the side. Also, the stories about the difficulties in renewing his contract suggest he's heading down the path that saw Andros depart. Fazio's departure won't be mourned.

That opens up a place for Alex Pritchard on the left. Maybe 1 other attacking midfielder and at least 1 more deeper lying midfielder (Tielemans/Wijnaldum). We could do with an additional centre back to cover Toby Alderweireld. Hopefully, CCV or Dominic Ball? I wouldn't be surprised to see us spend £50m and recoup half of that in sales. Our CL income will cover the fees and getting Fazio, Chadli and Bentaleb off the wage bill should cover most of the wages so it's a further upgrade and increasing our resilience against injury which has been tested this season.

I think next season will be transitional for the old favourites barring The Gooners. I see next year's title being as open as this year's with us being in a stronger position. It's all good!

Hope springs eternal for the Spurs haters. Or specifically, Spurs finish :

    1. At least 5th
    2. 4th, and Citeh finish at least 5th + win CL, Poool win EL.

Which of the above do people think is most likely to happen, and the odds on it ??

Absolutely no chance of 2 - City cannot beat PSG and Barca and/or Munich. 1 is still a possibility, but getting a long shot. If we lose to Pool, Utd and Stoke then we are in a battle. Win all 3 and we are top 2 imo (Leicester will have to keep winning to deny us). 5 points and we are top 3.

    Harry Kane says:

‘If I can be a role model or if I can maybe make another manager play a young player coming through, rather than buy a player, that’s incredible.
‘I think sometimes managers like to buy players because they’re more experienced from abroad when they’ve got players under their nose that will give everything to the club they’ve been brought up with. ‘The more people get chances at a young age, I think you’ll see more talent coming through as we have done this season.’
    Paddy Power says:
    To Finish Outside Top 4
    Liverpool1/33 Man Cityevens Tottenham14/1
    Man Utd3/10 Arsenal11/1 Leicester33/1

Corals have us 16/1 with the Gooners @ 13/2. For deluded Mousers who want to put their money on a sure thing Skybet are offering 1/40. Minimal return with no risk. City @ evens looks like the way to go.

Why would our players leave? Surely they'd want to stay and defend the title next season and the CL title the following season.

If a player decides they want out then it might be difficult. I can't see Levy taking the money out of choice though, despite the common misconception he's never done that in the past and won't be forgetting the trouble we had after spending the Bale money anytime soon.

Are you over your meltdown on the Pool match thread?

There's a reason why people think your wumming Sucky...because you do. A wum is never balanced..you have an undertone of wishful thinking when it comes to Spurs...because Spurs have totally ****ed up the development of Pool.

I'm off to find a smiley, before you claim meltdown cutey x

I think that we've got a decent chance of keeping most and possibly all of our best players this summer, as long as we reach the Champions League.
We're in a fairly unusual position, as we don't have any real stars, but we're doing very well.
We've had some excellent performers in this campaign, but nobody's stood out in the way that Bale did, for example.

Alderweireld, Dier, Alli and Kane have all been immense, but I think that they're all just shy of what the big money sides want.
I can't see the likes of Barca, Real or Bayern going in for them yet, thankfully.
Other clubs either won't have the money or won't be in attractive enough of a position to force a move, I hope.

I'm definitely in agreement with King about the stadium move.
I don't really think it matters to the players where we end up during the transitional season.
The same is probably true of the new stadium, too.

Alderweireld's been the best defender in the country this season. I'm not sure anyone's even that close to him, to be honest.
He's not a headline grabbing media darling, though. He plays out of position for his country, rather bizarrely.
That doesn't attract the likes of Barca, Bayern and Real in particular, who like to have big names who sell shirts and papers.

Dembele's been great since his return to the team and we're distinctly worse in his absence.
He's not done it consistently over the course of a number of seasons though, so that'll put people off.
He also doesn't score enough goals or get enough assists for a player of his ability, so that'll put off another load.
Many people still can't work out what he is and what his role is supposed to be in many systems.
Absolutely brilliant for Pochettino and I can't see anyone bidding enough to get him to leave.

Every club is a selling club..we got VDV from Madrid.
    Ozil went to the Nomads.
    Sanchez from Barca etc etc.

Some are just stupid buying clubs.....anyone who touches Balotelli has to have a word with themselves.
