Still smiling today!

It's getting to the point where I feel like there's no point discussing players or matches before each premier league game. I simply would never have thought Wanyama and Mane would play like that before the game. If they can maintain that form then we could be in for a great end to the season

Quotes from Van Gaal on BBC web site:

"We have seen the result from Southampton today. Liverpool were 2-0 up at half-time and at full-time it was 3-2 to Southampton.

"I have not seen the match but I can only conclude it was because of tiredness and that is what we have done to them."

Following the Utd v Liverpool game in midweek.

No surprise there , he cannot bear to give credit to " That Boy " .....

We discussed the impact of the United game on the way down. All 4 of my passengers had been at Old Trafford and felt that Liverpool had coasted. I generously offered them the tiredness excuse on the way back but, their summary of the second half was "we weren't tired we were ****e". When I threatened to leave them somewhere on the A34 they did add "and your lot went for it".

Apparently on the way back to Old Trafford yesterday he discovered a cure for cancer, brought peace to the middle east and invented fusion energy.

He is a rather mean, sad man. I imagine Klopp might be a bit irritating at times but is generally fair.

Did LVG just take credit for us beating Pool? WTF?
To be fair I think Liverpool playing on Thursday was part of the reason why we won. To score twice in 3 minutes does imply that they were tired. Especially the way they conceded the third. It wasn't the major factor in the result but it certainly contributed.

I just don't get sentimental. I love both Davis and Fonte. But can see them moving on for various reasons. If they left I would thank them and move on, if they stayed then I wouldn't complain.

If Davis plays in half of our EPL matches next season, he will get a contract extension that will see him finish his career here.

On that basis were we tired when we conceded two in 4 minutes? I think it was more lack of fitness to deal with the type of game that Klopp is trying to promote. No professional footballer should be able to use 2 games in a week as an excuse for losing.

So much better for it being Liverpool. Worried that it will start another selling spree, of Vic,Sadio etc.

If that were the case, it would truly sum up the insane situation football finds itself in. If a prospective desperation buyer like Man U wants to ignore the fact that Mane has done **** all for five months and give us £30m based on him raising his game (admittedly beautifully) for 45 minutes against a mediocre Liverpool team who we shouldn't have been two down against in the first place, I'd say snap their hand off! They can put him on the pitch for the two or three fixtures they may have against Liverpool every year.

You mean 'How good is Mane when he plays Liverpool?'
Yes I think the shop window syndrome got to him and Big Vic. Fair play to them both - they changed the game completely (as did JWP) but I still don't think they will be here next season. Listening to their post match interviews it's all about helping the team rather than being part of the team.

We can replace Mane easier than Vic but we will survive.

Was it just me or did anyone else think Clyne had a very poor game? Lovren was predictably off the pace (but used his height and strength well against Pelle) whilst Lallana didn't have a bad game at all.

Suspect Tadic and Clasie got a real roasting at half time. They really need to up their game if they are going to get a regular start here. More work, less showboating.

At least I have an international break to recover my sanity before the Leicester match thread. Be afraid, Leicester...be very afraid. :)

We came off an international break last time we played Leicester, and completely ballsed it up in the second half. Maybe this time England will knacker some of Leicester's players. I'd be well pissed off with this break were I Leicester - watching England and other international teams break their players before the match has even kicked off.

Clyne played out of position at left back, thought he was OK apart from when Mane skipped past him with ease :emoticon-0100-smile
