in the last few years we have been so close to some good things and yet we somehow manage to mess it up at the last minute. As if we are afraid of the wins and the glory that will come. The psychological barrier that some athletes seem to have. We've been in recent years near to the title, the FA cup, the league cup. Now the wenger cup. We need players who can withstand the pressure of increased expectations.
Too many journey men level players. Too many players who lack game intelligence. Too many star players who can only play at their best for 20 minutes of the 90.
Giving Benteke a shoeing on the pitch was poor form imo. I think it's fair to say he'll be off in the summer
Agreed, not his best moment.. But that's Klopp, wears his heart on his sleeve, he can't help it I guess, he's done the same to players at previous clubs.. The players gotta take the rough with the smooth but, I must admit, I'd try to keep such conversations private!
Mweh..don't see the difference between that and pulling them over and yelling at them during match. They should be men who listen not wee boys who cry at harsh words. Klopps done it to a few players during matches. Sick of protecting all these huffy big girls blouses...
Giving players instructions during the game is different to giving them a shoeing on the pitch at the final whistle imo. Some players would take it on the chin, but more would find it unacceptable. He wasn't responsible for the shipping of 3 goals either, there was probably others who deserved that shoeing more than him, and I'm sure that'd grate.
I'm not even talking about instructions... I've seen Klopp yelling angrily at players...motioning them over really giving off...it's more giving off about ignoring instructions rather than giving them. We also don't know if Benteke said something smart mouth back... Also depends..did Bentekr ignore some explicit instructions when he came on? Only they know. As you say some will take it on the chin...those that can't can **** off the pussies.
Klopp's gotta take this loss on the chin, it was his substitution choices that cost.. Skrtel was poor before got injured has been poor in u21 games he played since coming back and yet still played him, he had Kolo on the bench that had been playing very well before Lovern's return to the team! If Sturridge wasn't injured, I see no reason to take him off.. if we were getting over-run then you take him off for Henderson not like for like.. Still I think, it a weird way this loss will be more helpful to Klopp in the long run than a win, if he didn't know already, this performance has pretty much confirmed those that can stay and those that can be made available for transfer..
This is stretching the silver lining to its limit. I am sure klopp didn't a morale busting defeat to inform him of those things
Not so sure on that, he should be able to trust those players to come on and do a job they simply didn't.
Without a doubt...he should know the limitations of each member of his squad by now. He should also be planning for the 50 minute drop off that is guaranteed with us even if we've aced the first half. Unfortunately and this isn't defending him because he should at least make the attempt to switch it tactically I genuinely believe our team has no bottle. If we tried to defend at all we turn into jellyfish. As I said ...we've a bunch of very thick players who can not adapt.
Maybe not him personally but it'll not hurt when he puts his hand out for the summer transfer budget lol
That's where he has gone wrong, expecting the payers on the bench to come on and do a job, a reasonable request but not with some of our players unfortunately. This is where he has to improve the squad, get players in willing to work for him and put a shift in regardless of the circumstances or opposition.
That's giving him a free pass imo. He decides the tactics and chooses who to bring on and when. He didn't react tactically to counter Southampton's half time changes and they took you to pieces. It's an easy get out to blame the quality of the players he had to bring on, and avoids his responsibility for the second half collapse. He was a culpable as Martinez was the other week when we did the same vs WH imo.
That bit should be taken for granted with ANY player we have or buy for the club. FFS for 50k-140k a week, that is the least the player should give.
I agree.. praise him when he gets it right, but he can't be immune to criticism when he gets it wrong! Yesterday, he got it wrong...
