Was McGrath on C4 racing today? I still remember that utter rubbish he spouted after the 2000GNS about how the race would have taken too much out of him and he wouldn't be the same horse again. What a fool
Agree Cyc...12f seems unlikely but 10f no problem.I remember his dam being a sprinter but there is stamina in the distaff side so stamina at 10f may unlikely be an issue. As long as Workforce makes the Arc,it won't be considered for Frankel imo. Another Galileo G1...wonder how much the "private" fee in his stud book actually is for a one off cover for a small breeder!!
No, Nassau, I cannot agree. Would never put him in the Arc, in Paris, in October. Frankel is a miler IMHO, and probably would get 1-1/4 given a galloping track and good ground. 6f to a mile, probably one of the best we've ever seen, but the Arc? No way. Doubt if we'll ever know anyway?
Filon I would agree with you if I hadn't just watched that, he settled and he just galloped them into the ground. If STS can do it then Frankel can, both similar in breeding both unsure to get the trip but both ooze class that makes it worth the risk.
He is something special! Will he go down as one of the best horses in our lifetime- Yes definately Will he go down the best of all time- Probably yes! Perfectly run race from Queally(who I dont rate very much) he never seems to do anything special when hes not riding frankel, but he rode him very well! My view has changed a little bit at least!
Frankel being aimed at the Juddmonte - I am defs going to see that Simon Holt is quality as well FRANKEL THE FREAK WINS THE GUINEAS and when he went OHHH THIS IS A BRILLIANT HORSE
Yes, Nassau, quite right, but I always thought Sea The Stars, apart from oozing class, showed stamina and sheer guts too in his runs before his Arc triumph. Frankel has all of that except I must question the stamina aspect. Just cannot come to terms with that. Frankel has just too much speed?
RV, I suggested something about CC to Jack (from old 606 days) on twitter this morning about CC never being off the bridle. I was right about that but I was very wrong about just how good Frankel was!! Juddmonte against So You Think, please Coolmore do the right thing. Then perhaps...
They said a few weeks ago that his end of season target is Champions Day, either the QEII or Champion Stakes. I'd suspect that they aim to keep him in training next year, in which case he might go to BC then. Saying that they haven't announced the venue for 2012 yet, though Santa Anita, Belmont and Churchill Downs are in the running. My suspicion is that Workforce will be retired at the end of this year to go to stud and Frankel will follow for the 2013 breeding season. On his current form I put a stud fee of £50,000 on Frankel, though if he continues as he has done it can only go higher. Workforce I'd currently put in at about £30,000.
