Hope not, with him a mistake is never far away. I like the guy and wish him well for the future but he isn't good enough for the PL.
God no. Alnwick is shambolic whenever he plays - which is why he wasn't even in our 25-man squad last season - and if anyone thinks Gomes isn't Premier League standard, they should just watch any of his performances (if you can call them that) when he's been given a chance. You can't miss them, just type "Burnley 3 Tottenham..." into Youtube, and you get a couple of games to choose from. As for Button, we'll have to ask Shrewsbury or Plymouth fans about him, given he's played full seasons for those clubs in the last couple of years. I can't really comment on Oscar Jansson or Mirko Ranieri, though.
"Alnwick is shambolic whenever he plays - which is why he wasn't even in our 25-man squad last season - and if anyone thinks Gomes isn't Premier League standard..." Yes.
I may have missed something but where did we get the info that Gomes is our No1? First and foremost a goalkeeper must be solid and reliable not prone to panic, command his area, inspire confidence in his defence, and fearless. Gomes is none of those, what he does is pull off some amazing saves apart from that he just does not cut it IMO.
Thanks Ensil I see that it is based on speculation from the Standard. I did miss something, then again..................
Oscar Jansson has made a couple of appearances on the bench and, frankly, I'd rather he was the third option than Alnwick or Button. I'd also prefer coaxing Ian Walker out of retirement as a third choice if Alnwick or Button were the other options...
